Like this you start and shape it from the beginning, you are done by the time you would insert it otherwise and it's not always working out that way or you spend more time messing with individuals and groups, this way, it is, because, yeah, you are making it work from the beginning with all your further decisions, it's good old mixing into compressor issue and with GML/EQ it's getting that top&bottom end in similar fashion, again, perks are on individual basis

Slate Vcc > Slate VTM > Sir StandardEQ > UAD precision limiter
90% of material that leaves my studio has a similar chain.
sometimes vtm is replaced with Ampex ATR-102, sir standardeq my be replaced by millennia nseq2

starting from about 70 percent in the mix I tend to add Slate Buss Compressor(s), just shaving a db, tops 2, and a Maag EQ4 for maybe a little air or less low mud. but if I like what the Maag does I turn to the mix to fix it there and bypass it again.

this, at least at first this is a good starting point.
When I visit people, nothing is more annoying then a limiter that is pushed all the way,
I would avoid using an Analogue emulation on every track because that sound seems to bore me overtime...

    good personal trick I use:
several times between the creative stage and the pre-mixing stage I use a slightly changed preset from soundgoodnizer A in maximus
it is working as a multiband compressor with pretty generic compression settings and mono's the lower band.

It's off by default but after things change drastically or when I get to point I am like, Now what?
I turn it on. 2 things can happen or it turns to big pile of shit or is lacking something, or,
and this is when I'm lucky, it all sounds reasonable for my standard then I disable it again and move (it never makes it in the final version, it always sound harh to my ears and I prefer other plugins on the master track like ozone)

Slow attacking compressor, sometimes an emulation of the SSL G Compressor. or sometimes a standard digital logic one.

and a tape emulation sometimes, depends what i'm doing. about 70/30 i'll just stick with the comp
