I'm planning to buy a keyboard controler for my Studio One + VSTi setup.

It has to be very portable and compact. Mini keys is fine for me.
    Basically I'm considering two options:

    - Novation Launchkey Mini
    - M-Audio Axiom AIR Mini 32

I wondered if anyone has some experience with one of these/both? Are they any good? Which one would you advise (or not) and why?

    Thanks in advance!
    Mr P

EHHH..What is a Korg k100s? Never heard of it. Or do you mean the KORG RK-100S this 80ies style keyboard to be worn by a strap around the neck and shoulders? This reminds me on bad pseudo rock/pop music like "Modern Talking" and "Europe - The final countdown"

The Novation Launchkey has a better build then the Air Mini but it was developed for abelton. The buttons on the unit are clip launch buttons which means that they are probably not touch sensitive and not well suited for programing drums. Even if you could map them to drums the size of the buttons are just to small to be fun.

The Air mini 32 has a weaker build but in return you get more keys. Unlike the novation launch key the pads are a larger format intended for drum programing. That said any unit of this price range is not built to last.

conclusion if you are not using ableton then then go with the M-Audio Axiom AIR Mini 32

    Thanks guys,

I'm using Studio One, not Ableton therefore the Axiom might be tempting but I read a lot of negative feedback on M-Audio forums.

If any of you use Studio One, what is your controler of choice? What would you recommend?

I would go with a Novation SL MkII. 25 Key for you. I prefer 61 Key.
It's light and the keys are very nice to play.
AKAI MPK would be an alternative.
The keys are important to me. I don't like the keys of M-Audio.

I own the launchkey49 for about six months now and some of the keys are already clacking - not so greatly built imho. But you do have this kind of problem even on doepfer masterkeys...
I owned the novation remote sl and it was great, but I think the op is looking for something smaller.
The korg nanokeys maybe? Talking about mini...
