Anyone have any tips on opening massive archives in OSX that have been RAR-ed in hundreds of pieces? I have Orchestral Tools' Berlin Woodwinds library and I suspect I've corrupted a couple of small files. I have the RARs backed up but the damn thing is so big and awkward (almost 60 Gb in nearly 300 pieces) that I'm having a lot of trouble even opening the archive. I don't get any errors, but every single program I've tried to use to open it (Entropy, Keka, UnRarX, The unArchiver, ArchiveExpert, iArchive, yadda yadda yadda) just sits there gawking at the size of it. I've left each of them now for hours in their opening routine - overnight in several cases - and none has been able to open it. No errors, no crash or hang, just no action at all. Not sure I understand why anyone creates a single archive in that many pieces, but I was able to open it when I got it so it must work somehow. If anyone has a suggestion I'm all ears.

 

Hi you could try copy them onto a external hard-drive
ask a friend that has windows
plug it in to there pc and unpack onto your hard-drive.
winrar will also let you fix any rars that have errors
and tell you what ones are broken,
or you could go to a netcafe and do it there ,most librarys have pc's as well to use

 

Thx momo I'll try anything at this point. I actually have Windows 8 installed via Parallels - scrambling to find a disk to reformat ESFAT - I'll let u know if this works.

 

I think the archive may be incomplete, short one tiny file. If anyone can post it or dropbox it to me I'd be eternally grateful - I'd don't relish the idea of downloading 60 Gb again for 2Kb!

The apparently missing file is:

mgn-ortbrw.sfv

It's from the first level RAR archive - that is, not the set posted, but the set that is extracted from that. Hopefully someone else has the same habit I have of backing up after unpacking the first extraction. This was supposed to be a timesaver if I had to go back to the RARs for anything. It's proving less and less so.

Alternatively (and perhaps a bit more realistically), if anyone can dropbox or post the two files I believe are what's corrupting the lib, you'd have my undying admiration:

bww_container.nkc and
bww_container.nkr

(the ones from the original release, not the v1.1, v1.5 or v1.6 updates - these I have backed up) - total size ~30 Mb.
