Hi Everybody

Having bought a Kontrol 61 MK2 very recently and enjoying it, I was wondering if buying a Maschine was a smart move. Beside being fun, what is the real purpose of such a box? Mobility only?

If you set it up right, you can really make some tunes and idea's fast.... so if you don't have hours on end to sit down and tweak, or a lot of spare hours (1-3 hours) in between stuff when normally watching Netflix or so, this is a nice solution. Once you get the idea of how it works, it can be an addition. I use both Maschine and Cubase. But for detailed stuff, I always end up with Cubase. But that's been with me since SX, so that might just be it. I hope it helps.

 

Cubase user here. Own a KK Mk2 and a Maschine Mk3.
About 2 years I go I got a bit tired of using just a mouse and keyboard to do things in Cubase and felt the need to try something new get a little more spontaneous, so due to a shit load of OT coming my way I could afford to buy Ableton and a Push. While I like the idea of the Push my transition from near 25 years of Cubase user to Ableton was not a pleasant experience (more a case of better the devil you know). So after a year I sold it and jumped ship to KK and Maschine, which I can use in Cubase unlike the Push.
I love the KK Mk2 combined with a copy of Diva and I'm a happy man. But what do I get from Maschine? its fantastic for bashing in a drum loop but you can do this from any device.. the expansion packs are quite good.. I can take it to work, it looks cool. Is it essential....... NO........ Have I found myself dancing round the room with a big grin having just jammed a wicked bit techno YES..... Its got pretty colors too..

I have never understood the usefulnes of the NI Maschine.
For this value I would buy good vsts or hardware synth.

 

Maschine is good if you can find a used model at a decent price. I wouldn't buy a new one though.

I would say its fun to get hands on when creating your music. At the end of the days thats what creating music is about boys, HAVING FUN!

 

Well I have the mk3 and also the 49 mk2 and I love both of them probably the best thing I bought in years there’s a lot that you can do with both of them but when u put them together it takes it to a whole new level you can check my tracks out trackmakazbeats.com

 

Exactly my question ...what can you do with both that you can"t separately? Beside from the portability and pads issues...
