In the last community post from Native instruments it is written that Maschine 3.0 is in the starting blocks .

    Maschine
I know many of you have been waiting for news about Maschine. We’ll be releasing an upgrade to the software in November that brings several features including stem separation, MIDI editing workflow improvements, per-scene tempo, a basic Kontrol S-Series MK3 integration, a modern interface, and many other small but valuable improvements. There was a long list of features requested by the community, and while we’ve not been able to build them all – yet! But this upgrade significantly expands what you can do with Maschine.

We’ll also be releasing a new content library called the Maschine Central with 128 multi-sampled instruments that are fully compatible with Maschine+, as well as 70 new kits and over 100 new presets. You’ll be able to purchase the software upgrade on its own or purchase both the software upgrade and Maschine Central content library together.

I hope that they have listened to the community and that the new version finally includes long-awaited features that should actually be a matter of course for this programme.
For example that you can hear the note while moving a note up or down on the piano roll.

I am also very excited to see if Ni will release a Maschine Mk4, I hope it will be a Maschine Studio 2.0 so to speak.

    About time.
This product has great potential but extremely limited when working within this NI workflow.

I’m considering switching to Akai if v3 fails.

Yeah, I love the feel of the hardware, it's just fun to work with, I hope that the workflow continues to improve and that the whole operation becomes a little more intuitive.
The hardware itself really has potential

They definitely were heavily inspired by Ableton's more minimlaistic UI compared to the previous Maschine software.

I do enjoy the new direction as a designer myself, this looks more refined than the first redesign they did with Kontakt 7 (which was a combo of old and new slapped together). Maschine 3 looks much more modern...

But where are the separators on the left sidebar??? Everything looks a bit too similar and visually different sections are not separated enough.

Also some of the contrasts seem a bit too low, but this is kind of similar to Kontakt's UI.

Personally I think this looks like a cheap evolution by NI along with the rest of their product range. Whatever team they have to design their new UI have just slapped this new veneer over everything, but fundamentally have improved very little to me. Akai appear to have stepped up their game in this regard, while I feel NI have gone pop and may take another couple of generations to get back to the golden era. I hope they can find their way back at least. I love some of the NI tools, but feel they have gone awry since K7.

Similar to Kontakt libraries, Maschine expansions are not cracked. You will need cracked version of Maschine from sister site. Latest version is currently Native.Instruments.Maschine.v2.18.4.WiN-bobdule.Rev2 or Native.Instruments.Maschine.v2.18.4.macOS-HCiSO

Considering the state NI is in, it's Akai for you already. NI just keeps disappointing their customers. :(

Selling samples and presets is highly profitable business as compared to developing high quality plugins and hiring great sound designers to create patches for them.

I like to look back to when drum machines had not yet been invented. The drummer was a human being and everything in the recording studio was analogue. Their music sounded so lively and human. It had a soul, you can listen to everything on vinyl today and now on Spotify and YouTube.

    Since this happened:

" Francisco Partners, the new "owner" of NI, is a global investment company / private equity company that has focused on the technology sector."

NI has finally come to an end. Now they are making a profit and everything that costs money, such as support or things that cannot be sold, has been scrapped.

    1) you can still humanize your drums, like actual record them yourself or get someone to play the drums for you, in a best way someone who is a good drummer. i dont see how that made music worse?
In fact it expanded what was possible, or do you think generes like exatone would be possible without the gear we have?
Or if you take drum and bass music with its akaized amens - which btw where a human drummer.

NI is owned since 2018 by a global investor, they had very bad years before and without that NI wouldnt be alive anymore.

    A few thoughts from me:
But how does that effect NI course of action? Well they discontinue products, which have a smaller user base and dont have a way to sell Expansion or libraries - so basically get a static monthly revenue.
Machine, Massive X, Kontakt - they all do that.
And its been a while since they came up with something new - but its expensive to do that kind of work.

On the other hand, if you look at the Korg company - with only 290 employees, they are very innovative and resourceful. There's a MicroKorg 2 - new design, more options and a fair price. If you don't make enough products and profits, you're out of the market. New products require staff and time, NI obviously saves on that, I don't think that will happen any more.

the problem is they have to return as much profit as they can. Korg on the other hand doesnt have a global investor, they for themself.

I tried 3.0. I don't do sample-based music (at least not copyright-protected, I do sample my own sound sources), so I have zero use for Stems.

The Kontrol MK3 integration seems very buggy at this point, which is a shame. There's all kinds of weirdness regarding NKS sounds, just like in Maschine 2. It works when you first load a sound/plugin to a pad, the GUI shows up on the big keyboard screen. But if you start adding more sounds to other pads, the screen stays the same and doesn't change to show the other sound/plugin's NKS controls - but the keyboard plays the new sound you just loaded. Transport controls disappear. Pressing Browser on the keyboard crashed the software.

Another example. I had a bass patch from the Feels library, and then I tried to add another Kontakt sound to another pad by loading it via the keyboard's Browser button. For some reason, it loaded it as a layer (Kontakt?)! When I tried to open Kontakt in Maschine to investigate, Maschine crashed.

Being that the current direction of the company tends more towards samples & loops, wouldn't it make since to develop DAW packs for any or all as an example (DAWs with clip launchers):
    • Abelton Live, Akaio Pro, Bitwig, Cubase, Digital Performer, FL Studio, Logic, Mixcraft, Pro Tools, Sonar, Studio One, Waveform
And give up developing Maschine as quasi DAW. Just a thought.
