sample packs and sound libraries seem to be another source of income you may want to look into, sound design for TV/film especially...

Interesting thread. Needs more participants, very interesting to hear peer stories. I've created a stable year income from my overall publishing (30yrs +) from releases, advertising, scoring and the lot.
The streaming and label income is still laughable. They pay next to nothing. The real income came from trading and hitting big in crypto last three years. I've done a lot of ghostwriting &. producing for fixed fee over the last twenty years, from which I build the base which I use to trade. The rest from performing live, touring and dj'ing. But if you were to start out right now and make a years living in this part of the industry .. good luck. I have a studio I rent and operate which makes for one third of my 'years-take'. I'm very comfortable and happy to have the freedom to pick and choose my 'jobs' and projects.
I do one on one coaching and teaching on and off which brings in another third +/-.
Still have a big drive to produce, for others and for myself without the financial incentive or requirement. Very grateful to have made it
this far this well. Looking forward to hear more in here ...

... and the future of nft's.

mentioning crypto and nfts like that, which is based on luck, basically trading ur life on luck, is not a way to show off you made income from that

i hate this cause it impacts other people to get jealous and follow

all winnings i ever had from gambling, its more like cursed money more than anything

if you are into luck, the next thing you gonna invest in will also be luck and good luck

just because u won once doesn't mean u winning next time

when people mention crypto and stuff i think should be more cautious not to influence others at least....even if they win, doesn't mean it will do them any good. as i said, lucky once, doesn't mean lucky twice, and even lucky once may have its disadvantages

    So true.

I have so little hope for younger composers in these times. If I (like you) didn't have several decades of material on air I don't know where Id be now. The advent of the digital age essentially killed the industry by making every man and his dog with a laptop a "composer". Oversupply has forced the value of the product down to unsustainable levels of return.
