Can we get a petition going to get the OP banned from the forum ?
I think his extremely sexist comments warrants some sort of excommunication.
    Just a thought..

I have a quad-core i7 2011 MBP ... are you talking about the (now-defunct) MacBooks of yesteryear? Or the MB Air? Mine may not move as fast as a 12-core Mac Pro, but it's pretty damn fast. Hell, even my old black MacBook Core 2 Duo (Nehalem) 2.14 GHz handled real-time 96 kHz audio pretty well, and in real time. The problem with Macs before Apple decided to hardwire them like iPhones and iPads isn't the hardware, it's the software. If everybody's hanging onto their 2011 MBPs like I am, they're not buying 2016 MacBook Pros with exciting touchbar and Apple Pay features. So they roll out a new and rushed-to-the-point-of-buggy OS every year that also implements forced obsolescence for older but completely usable models. I have no interest in buying an Apple Watch, an iPad, an iPhone or using Apple Pay, but Apple feels like we should all have a matching set and that it shouldn't be open for negotiation.

It is never good when you replace a "visionary" CEO with an accountant CEO. I don't expect them to really introduce any innovative products in the upcoming years. They will likely just focus on their legal department and their vast array of patent lawsuits and try to stifle any competition that way.

People do need to wake up though and realize that using Apple products doesn't make them hip or cool (that is just marketing brainwashing you), they are vastly overpriced for what you get, that Apple essentially takes other company's products makes them look pretty then claim they are the ones being innovative, and finally and worse of all that Apple intentionally makes their older products obsolete through a company wide "planned obsolescence" initiative.

I remember rolling my eyes when I read an article about Apple trying to justify why they abandoned the old universal 3.5mm headphone jack for their own proprietary jack. Like anyone out there honestly believes it wasn't just about further exploiting the customer and enriching themselves.

Go to Razer website and try to build a pc with 5k display for the price of top iMac 27". And you will be surprised.
I don't want to hear bullshit about your own creative setups with wtf parts that was found on ebay for a half price.
Use calculator before you start talking senseless stuff.

And why would I go there? Shiny green logo? Because everyone else is? Or just brand recognition, like why poeple goto best buy (and pay full retail)?

...and why do you think you need a 5K display for a desktop computer anyways? Same for the fancy/expensive display Apple has on their tablets and phones. Yes it looks pretty but you get ~95% of the same product in a Samsung (or other competitor) for a fraction of the price. Sure if you have the money buy whatever you want, but a lot of the stuff Apple is making you think you need you really don't.

All I'll say is that they're introducing stuff I don't need (5K displays) and getting rid of stuff I depend on (optical audio input). That's why after 20 years of being a mac user professionally (video editing) and non-professionaly (music making), I'll be going PC or Hackintosh on my next big upgrade this summer. Which of those two I haven't decided yet.

  11. When I was younger I could only use a Mac and would never envision myself going over to the dark side and use a Windows platform. How times have changed as well as the vibe coming off of Apple products. Now the only vision that they have for the future is how to keep one shackled to their proprietary closed system and brainwash people to believe in surface over substance, the superficial over the depth of reality. Marketing magicians wave wands of wonderment to a gullible, naive audience that grab the shiny object like do mackerel to a barbed and twinkling lure. It is great for their shares, shareholders, that is until the magical bubble once again goes pop and people realize that they can survive without that fishbowl over their noggin.

HaHa, not brainwashed if you use both side by side and get more productivity out of Logic on a Mac. Sorry. I won't stay in this debate because it is stupid. It s not the hardware, its the software. I mean really, Spitfire Audio, Cinesamples, Orchestral Tools, all use Macs. Why? Obviously they can use what ever they want. Yes, Tim Cook is a tool. But Jobs mentored hundreds of people who still work for Apple.
I really don't have a dog in this fight, it doesn't matter. When I can get as much done on my Windows based system, I will change. Also, I don't write dance music, which may be better suited in Windows.

  13. I too have no dog in the fight and am happy when people use their tools to both the best of their ability as well as how far their hardware can enable them. Price vs power for the same on as equal a footing as can be measured, as far as I have been schooled comes up favored for the dull and less radiant of.the two major choices. When folks line up for days through all.sorts of inclement weather to be the first to reap the superficial benefits of being one of the first...this is what I am commenting on and this alone.

Yep, that is just plain stupid. I can understand the bias against all of the rich and famous using their products. Like Gucci or Prada or something. That actually kind of pisses me off a little. But it is what it is.

Yeah everybody knows a PC with a decently brained user will stop "starting" every day or after holidays, common facts. For someone knowing both worlds your arguments are kind of non-sense.

Well you're senseless too. Going to Razer website as a reference for self-built PCs, nice one dude, nice one. The one and only argument that CAN'T be debated is the price and the durability. t
