Please do not chastize me for my opinion here but I have a dual boot 2015 high end macbook. I use the Mac part for video and the Win part for audio. Recently I fired up the Mac version of my computer and was just blown away with the slower speeds and also the nonstop popups and annoying crap about signing into 25,000 different apps. It was a terrible user experience. That combined with the lack of USB ports and support, ability to fix yourself the long list goes on. I think they are really gearing this computer toward the female user in my opinion. Where they like having everything done for them and not using too much brain power to think outside the box. And it is shiny and over priced. Is this too truthful or should I just agree blindly with everyone else?

Nope, you're pretty much dead-on, except ... why did you buy a 2015 MBP? I have a 15" 2011 MBP that I bought used for $650 a year ago, with a quad-core i7 2.2 GHz processor, 16 GBs of RAM, TB, USB 2.0 and FW 800, plus, an optical drive that I just took out and replaced with a second hard drive. Also not clear about popups and signing in (you should still be able to turn those off via your system prefs, even in Sierra). Unfortunately, even though I've been using Macs since 1991 or so, this is likely the last one I'll ever buy. You can buy a really fast PC laptop for what you just spent on that MBP, or worse still, if you're an audio-only person, you could have bought an iZ RADAR Station and had a turnkey system that's tricked out for both RADAR and Pro Tools (and anything else, since it runs on a tweaked Windoze 8.1 Pro).

I'm a proud owner of last of the pro oriented run of Macbooks. Bought new way back in Mid 2012 MBP (15" non retina). I'm also a soon to be proud DIY Hackintosh owner.

In what concerns MacOS there is just one log-in: iCloud. "25,000 different apps" are the ones that you installed in your system and have nothing to do with Apple or macOS for that matter.

    USB hub = mo' ports
lack of support?? Apple has probably the best customer support in the world. No kidding.

I'll rather prefer to think outside the box doing sound design in a synth instead of spending half a day to decide what to customize on my OS. So if being a woman = letting the computer to do the hard work and focusing on the task that matter, we could all learn lots of things from womens.

Shiny is for everyone, overpriced only for some. Thing is, if someone spent 6 months of salary on a MacBook will criticise anything regardless how small. If someone spent one month of salary on the same MacBook, he/she would just work with it without complaining.

You are entitled to your own opinions. There are as many reasons to hate a computer (regardless the brand & OS) as many reasons to love it, that's why the choice is personal in the end. But your set of "hate" reasons is really... are you 16 years old yet?

i think you should take your mac back to the shop and tell them your too stupid to own it .... I've owned a mac for the last 10 years and i was a Die hard PC fanatic i was Anti Mac .. in my 10 years with a mac 10 and unlike my PC's it starts every day when i have an idea for a song it STARTS .. when i go on holiday and come back It STARTS... and i pretty much have every single thing i had on pc but now i have it on my mac .. yesterday i bought another mac to use just for mastering i was using a PC but again its the Old ARE You going to START problem .. i only had 1 issue with a mac in 10 years and that was an OS update that was fixed within Days of its release the only pop ups i ever see are ( YOU HAVE MAIL ) and ( Do you want to Delete this ) so again take my advice tell them down at the shop your to stupid to own one and hand it over to them ..

I should have paid $$$ to resurrect my 2011 MacBook Pro. I "ASSumed" the new ones would be much better.

You can pick up one for pretty cheap, since a lot of Mac owners seem to think these things are the same as iPhones and you can just buy the new model every year while ditching their old ones for nothing on eBay.

Ditto Iggy's rig, here. I'm quite content with it. There is a Thunderbolt port for daisy-chaining more/faster connectivity, if necessary; mine drives a big Dell LCD monitor that I got for $20 from someone on Craigslist. Bought the Macbook Pro for $220 on CL because the keyboard was messed-up; I use external wired or Bluetooth keyboard anyway. I maxed the RAM to 16GB; put an SSD as main drive and swapped the optical drive for a 7200RPM HDD (for data and such); have the SSD partitioned for different O/Ses. I don't want a new MBP because the hardwired RAM is insufficient (and non-upgradeable); the touchbar is yet another bell/whistle. The ONLY deficiency is the 512MB of video RAM; I need 1GB or more for editing 4k video, but I downsample it and edit it as 1080p. Some MBPs of same vintage have 1GB of video RAM, though. The new MBPs are painfully lacking in video RAM; they're compensated by external video cards and such, which is a great hardware scam on Apple's part. I hope someone influential at Apple's reading this forum.

Not only does this "opinion" fail to see the forrest for the trees, it's also sexist. There are multiple factors driving Apple to streamline the Macbook (hardware space/user friendliness/technology adoption efforts/moving towards one singular OS for phone/tablet and Mac), none of which are meant to attract one gender over another. Why would Apple want to cut the customer base in half?

And what in the world has led you to believe women are simple and weak minded lemmings that are unable to operate what was already a user-friendly operating system. Oh, and also uncreative robots.

Nothing about it was truthful and you should stop blindly agreeing with everyone else, troll.

That's pretty much exactly what I did with mine. As for 4K video editing/scoring to picture, I'd either do what you did and downgrade video to 1080p (for scoring) or wait until I bought a RADAR Station. Everything else, it can handle pretty well.
