To sum this thread up, some audio engineers, security specialists, computer scientists and people with decades of expert experience may be able to work safely with Windows - even though everyone of them has a different approach and belief what that actually means. And if they do, they like it that Windows is "highly configurable" and doesn't force anything on you.

For everyone else and all experts smart enough to avoid this mess, macOS just works.

    Another tree-hugging, Mac pansy.

    ....just kidding.

You're absolutely right, of course, but comments like that seem to make non-Mac users somewhat unhappy. Prepare to receive less-than-friendly-fire.

Oh dear... Pat each other on the back, Atta boy, in true Bruce Willis style... Yeah you summed it alright in record time. Great argument btw.
    "It Just works" :thanks: :goodpost::hahaha:
I was ready to reign hell upon thee for the pseudo(pun intended) subdermal irony but i'll just settle for a little "time out":

Hehe, yeah, I've seen so much Mac bashing for no reason (and Mac cracker bashing) lately, those Windows cowboys with their registries, dll's and driver issues could clearly use some flames about the mess they call an operating system.

However, I'm not a "Mac" fanboy. I always speak of "macOS" and not "Mac" for a reason. Because the Windows guys have a point, Mac hardware sucks. But macOS is just a great OS.

What "argument"? A man makes a claim. Another man happens to agree with him. It happens to be my experience. Clearly not yours...but thanks for your valuable input.

    Cool emoticons, btw. Really.

Yep, yep. Your whole rant regarding dlls and fonts has definetly saved both cash-more honor and the entire Apple community.
I'm sure Apple shares in the market has just rose an incredible 0.0000000000000001 % after that one. Reaching 10.000000000000001 % of superior beings.
    Lol.

I'm not an IT guy. But I learn my tools; I know my DAW, I know my plugins and I know my OS. I have no problems getting around in, and configuring, Windows. I'm not saying it's for everyone, and for users that finds Mac a better solution I say great and I'm glad that choice exists (as well as Linux for that matter). I'm just saying it's not rocket science to learn your way around WIn and for me it has advantages. In 30 years or so, ever since starting out with Cakewalk 3.0 running on DOS doing MIDI only and gradually moving into recent times with audio interfaces and full DAWs the lack of being able to use multiple interfaces has never been, or is now, an issue. Again, for me- I can see why that would be a big benefit for some users.

You are under the strange impression that I would give a rats ass on Apple or Apple shares. I don't. I don't even like Apple. I just like macOS because it's a great OS.

Perhaps Ive been living in a cave for the last 20 years, but I've never seen people get so upset out of other people enjoying a different hardware of software to them. Apple's always been good to me but I'm pretty sure that had I started on a PC I'd be singing its praises too. Mind you, Id be the only person I know who's using it for audio/music for tv/doco/film production. But that's my experience. Shoot me.

I have nothing against Mac OS but why are nobody talking about the nightmare called Catalina. Windows 10 has not been even closed to fucking up audio systems like that monstrosity

Ehh. Particular expertise in not needed for Windows.
If you can figure out a DAW you ought be able to figure out Windows.

    I actually did.
Some mac user answered that it's a great thing. Thinks any sane OS should have the same policy. Some crazy dictatorial dreams about forcing devs to behave.
    Just crazy.
I think an abuse of Apple really confuses the brain. The less it works the more one admires it.
Can't talk to cult members with rational arguments. They talk only about their lovely gods.

Your the only one who cannot read here because as stated before the aggregate device allows your to mix different brands.

AND THAT IS ACTUALLY WHAT I NEED AND THAT IS WHY I COULD NOT DO WITH WINDOWS !
MY SETUP WOULD NOT WORK !!!!
Clear ?!? Got it ?!?! Did your brain correctly understood this time ?!? If not read again and maybe you ll understand ( well not sure tbh..)

I never talked about interfaces from the same company.
I also took a common setup as an exemple that is impossible to do on WINDOWS.
It’s all about needs !!!!!! Again Windows makes me eat and I v nothing against it. This stupid war apple vs Microsoft is so dumb.
Next time read the topic before answering loads of useless stuff we already know ;)

    To sum up this thread
Nobody forces you to upgrade either your hardware or Os to do music.
Use what fits your needs and focuse on making music.
The less tools you have the more you ll use them to their max.
Stop being a software tester and use them. Old tools can still do music ;)

During my long experience I learned that you can’t explain your choices on the internet with arguments because people can’t read...

I've no idea why you are so desperate. Are you THAT unhappy with your Windows? Can't you sleep at night, if you don't make yourself believe that macOS would be even much worse?

    I'm sorry, it's not.

I didn't like what Apple did with Catalina. However, few months later and 2 updates for Catalina and most of the issues have been resolved. I just updated to Catalina myself two weeks ago and everything works fine. No issues at all. All developers updated their products in the meantime and Apple fixed some bugs. AND macOS doesn't have any old 32 bit apps anymore, all 64 bit now, as it should be in 2020.

For macOS the simple rule is, just don't update until you know you can. Give it some time. You can just postpone the update with a click of the mouse.

That's freedom of choice. Not like Microsoft dictatorship, forcing broken updates on the whole world without a choice (yeah, I know, I'm sure the computer science experts have a solution for that somewhere - and it's probably MUCH MUCH better than just a mouse click).
