    Hi all,

I need some help about whether to update my Mac to Sequoia 15.2. I am looking to update my MacBook pro so I am able to use my Magic Mouse but I am worried about the compatibility of my cracked software and anything I want to download in the future. I am worried if I update, my cracked plugins and software such as Ozone 11, Serato sample, decimort, Maschine etc will stop working. Does anyone know what the compatibility is like on Sequoia 15.2?

    EDIT:

I am currently running Mac OS Sonoma 14.4
    Maschine 2 version: 2 18 1 by HCiSO
    Decimort version: Decimort.v2.1.6 by HEXWARS
Ozone 11 version: 11.0.1.3067 by MORiA
Serato sample version: 2.0.0.2683 by pknr
FabFilter Total Bundle version: v2024.02.05 HSCiSO
Serum version: v1.36b8 REGGED COMPLETE-AUDIOWAREZ Win Mac
Goodhertz All Plugins Bundle version: v3 8 0 macOS by R2R

I appreciate all the help I can get.
    Many Thanks

You need to include what macOS version you are using them on now, and which versions of each software you currently have installed. You may need to install updated copies.

None of the software titles you mention are incompatible with Sequoia, but you do need compatible version numbers of them. Maschine would be the biggest concern, if you are using the hardware.

You could always just create a Time Machine backup. Update to Sequoia and see what works. Then find version which are compatible.

you can use a Time Machine backup to revert to a previous version of macOS, but there are some considerations and steps involved:

    Key Points to Know:
    1. Backup Includes System Files: The Time Machine backup must include the system files and not just your user data.
    2. Full Erase Required: Reverting to a previous macOS version typically involves erasing the current system, as macOS does not allow "downgrading" without a clean installation.
    3. Compatible Backup: The macOS version you want to revert to must be compatible with your Mac's hardware.
Steps to Revert Using Time Machine:
    1. Prepare Your Mac:
      • Ensure you have a current backup of your data, in case something goes wrong.
      • If you are not sure if Time Machine includes your desired macOS version, check the specific backup date/version.
    2. Boot into macOS Recovery:
      • Restart your Mac and hold Command (⌘) + R during startup to enter macOS Recovery mode.
    3. Erase the Current Disk:
      • In Recovery mode, open Disk Utility.
      • Select your startup disk (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click Erase.
      • Format it as APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journaled), depending on your macOS version.
    4. Restore from Time Machine Backup:
      • After erasing the disk, go back to the macOS Utilities window.
      • Select Restore from Time Machine Backup.
      • Choose the backup date corresponding to the macOS version you want to restore.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restoration.
    5. Reboot:
      • Once the restoration is complete, your Mac will restart with the previous macOS version and data as per the selected backup.
    Alternative Method:
If you don’t have a Time Machine backup of the older macOS version but need to downgrade:

    • Download the older macOS version from the App Store or Apple's website (if available).
    • Create a bootable installer on a USB drive.
    • Perform a clean installation and then restore data manually.

Okay thank you very much for your help, I've made the adjustments to my original post. I appreciate the help.

I have looked at your comment but just wanted to confirm. If I update to Sequoia and then restore from my. previous Time Machine backup it will revert/ downgrade back to the old Sonoma macOS?

I'm on M1 and gonna stay on Sonoma until it dies, it's dead end for these laptops, drains battery excessively also on M2's, so dunno, this is the last Mac for me, they pulled Apple again and I'm done dealing with AI and all other BS. So yeah, make your own mind, I'm really done with Apple.

A Time Machine backup can be used to downgrade back to the prior OS you were using when you made the backup. Click the spoiler I added and it has steps copied from ChatGPT.

There are much newer versions of the D16 Group plugins like Decimort. So you will want to update those. Same with Goodhertz. The most recent R2R version is 3.10. So it will be things like that to maybe re-download.

Going from Sonoma to Sequoia should not give you any problems because you have already gone past most of the bigger changes.

I'm not sure of any benefit to update either; but it's outside the scope of his question. I have not seen anything with a minimum system requirement of Sequoia. Yet.
