I heard 10.7 Lion is only 64 bit, and you can only run Logic in 64. Does this mean none of the free software (AU plugins mainly) on audioz will work if you upgrade since they are mostly 32 bit?

well they most likely will have some type of bridging technology just like Windows 764 bit and Cubase 6 64 bit has a built in bridge technology to operate 32 bit plugins on the 64 bit platform... well I hope so for your sake..

Lion allows you to run 32 bit apps and plugins, dont worry.

I tried Logic on Lion and i was able to run it in 32 bit mode.

Is the performance just as good on snow leopard?

I heard the use of bridges usually hurts performance in general.

Depending on what exactly is the case, I may stick to snow leopard for awhile.

I didn t try it in a real studio session so i can t tell.
But my guess is the app needs to be updated to be fully comptible with lion and to run as good as it is in Snow.

The bridge is not used cause it s running in 32bit mode.

From what i read on the avid forums some users are running PT 9.03 fine on the GM build after reparing permissions.
Though i didn t try it myself.

I just switch my Mac on Lion back to 32 bit by restarting then holding down the 3 and 2 keys as soon as it begins to start back up again. everything works fine
