Info for those who ever felt the need to use mac only plugins in Cubase/Windows.

You need a VM running macOS Big Sur, Logic & Audiogridder Server. Connection is established via internal VMware network adapter. Latency +90ms.

It makes out like the Logic stock plugins can run in Cubase! haha
Whereas you mean just AU plugins.

 

I did the test with stock Logic plugins. I didn't try out others but I'm sure it will work too.

The setup was exceptional uncomplicated and worked straight away as I thought it could.

The only "trick" is to setup macOS in a VM. I was using standard free VMware player & MK unlocker as the VMware player needs to be patched.

 

So you are actually saying that you are running Logic's stock compressors and EQs, Space Designer, and even the synths, in Cubase?
This is truly amazing.

Everyone's willing to can rebuild it for himself.

1. Set up VMware Player
2. Patch it with MK Unlocker
3. Install macOS, be sure to install "darwin", VMware Tools for macOS
4. Install Logic
5. Install Audiogridder server in macOS, Audiogridder in host
6. Set up internal network connection between host and VM using the virtual network adapter (installed by VMware player by default)

 

can you show a screenshot of AudioGridder -> Settings -> Plugins? because I see no Logic plugins there no matter what I try

indeed as I thought, you're talking about Apple own AU plugins,
Logic plugins are something else (no hate, just making things clear)

 

Logic's "plugins" are not plugins.

The MacOS system audio unit plugins by Apple *are* plugins, but are nothing to do with Logic.

 

Thanks for clarification, I was wrong indeed. Actually I didn't do any audio stuff in macOS so I thought the available plugins had to be Logic plugins since I didn't install anything else than Logic.

I'll have to check that again. (But I suspect you're right again, it will not work [so I have to rename the thread {shame on me}])...

And the system audio units are nothing really to write home about, and certainly not worth the bother of rigging up the above, when you might as well just use the plugins you already have in your DAW for basically the same effect.

 

So hopefully the word Logic will disappear from the title asap too...

 

actually AUNetSend and AUNetReceive is cool inexpensive gateway to networked audio

 

If the member was to open any other daw up on macOS, they would realise their mistake and edit the thread title.

I didn't check it so far. Until that's done I see no reason to change the title.

May god forgive me I didn't know there were standard macOS-AU-plugins and I probably tested these instead of the logic-plugins (...which I thought were the only plugins I have installed).

 

Because it's incorrect! It's not the stock Logic plugins, just the macOS AU tools.
Open Live, Reaper, or anything else on macOS and see them come up as plugins.

But we did.

So please do asap. You can trust that we are all correct when we are saying the same thing.
