Hi, I had a bad issue yesterday,
I was deleting files from some folders to free space and I am sure I just deleted what I wanted to delete.
I deleted the trash bin too so they were disappeared.

The bad thing is today I noticed that all the files from another folder were deleted, and this folder is not even close to the folders I was cleaning yesterday... The issue is in a floder where I download all the plugins stuff, so I have lost all the installers(which is not the worst because I always can download them again) and even installation folders for Kontak libraries, and this is a real issue because I can not now use them...

I am almost sure I didn´t delete this folder and even more sure I didn´t delete all the content. Of course I can be wrong and I did it but it is very strange because this folder is far away from the folders I did delete yesterday...

I am thinking about if maybe there is some kind of virus or trojan or whatever who was download with any plugin download and maybe it deleted all the folder, because the deleted stuff is just the download plugins folder. This idea is very crazy but I don´t know if this can be possible or if some of you have suffered similar issues.

I have tried recovery software(specially dedicated to situations where you emptied the trash bin) but they don´t show me the content of the folder so I can select it to recover...

I am on mac El capitan by the way

    Any info on this, please?

    Thanks in advance

had no luck so far with deleted file recovery on mac, its a real pain in the ass as they recover just everything except the stuff youre after and create some cryptic filenames so you cant tell whats been recovered, i literally spent hours identifying random stuff - it was faster for me to re-get the stuff from interwebs than fiddling with recovery software - i gave up and backup important stuff on regular basis. time machine is an option aswell. sorry i can't help bro :(

that sucks mate, and I feel your pain, but I am pretty damn sure it wasn't from any virus or trojan from something released here etc... obviously backup early and often. I backup my startup drives at least once a week (cloning not time machine as I need an instant boot not a recovery), and save all my installs from here and otherwhere as well... hope you get it sussed.

100% it's no virus and you just messed it up yourself, there is a chance that you used cleanmymac which is also know to delete old installers, if you have used cleanmymac then there are 2 steps to follow 1:go to a mirror and look at yourself and say you're an idiot and then step 2: delete cleanmymac.

everything you download from the sister site is safe and besides that, you're on a mac and there are almost no.virusses for mac.
