How can a G5 Mac be an Intel machine?

If you run MacOSX 10.8, there's no reason why Logic Pro X would not run on your system.
An Intel Quad Core Xeon and 3GB of RAM sounds good enough for average projects.
The only limitation is that you might not be able to run Pro X versions that require OS X 10.9+ (although I once had some success "patching" the plist file that determines the minimum system version to a lower number). I'm running Pro X on a 10.8.5 machine without problems.

May I ask why bother running it on a G5? It's an old & dated machine and staying with older logic versions is preferrable on those systems. There is no particular reason to run Logic Pro X on such a machine and I believe they also made it purely 64-bit, so it basically means you won't be able to run any third party plugins with it.

Overall, it's a bad idea. I would stick with Logic 8 for such a machine. You may have luck with 9.

You need a minimum of 4 GB of memory to run it poorly. I run it on 16GB of memory and experience occasional issues (with huge projects). You will also need more than 2GHz processor speed (although that too is a MINIMUM required spec) unless you have a processor capable of Turbo Boost... :dunno:

    If those specs are correct, you're running a 2006 MacPro.. I am running 10.8.5 on a 2008 2.8 Ghz Dual-Quad Core, 16Gb ram with LPX 10.0.7
I use 32 Live for all non-64 bit plugs (which is minimal).. LPX running great!
There's a good amount of training videos available to get you up to speed on the changes since LP8.
    Good Luck!

Sure it will run on Intel machines, but a G5 is a PowerPC. I dug a lil bit and it seems LPX isn't Universal Binary at all, which makes sense, as 10.8 is a pure Intel OS.
