hi,anyone any sugestions for coverting from m4a to mp3? i have switch, but when i click convert it shows the progress bar but fails after 5 mins without any progress thanks
Well, there are plenty of ways to skin this particular cat, and it'd be helpful to know what OS you're using. I personally use Foobar 2000 for this kind of thing. Good enough control for encoding settings (for MP3 it uses LAME of course). Does batch conversions, handles ID3v2 tags when transcoding. Dead easy to use. Well, it's also my main music player so I'm skewed towards it of course. But it's free so can't hurt to try. Of course, cue the usual sermons on why you should not transcode between two lossy formats... so don't do that unless you absolutely have to. *edit* Ah, forgot, you need this for encoding with FB2000: https://www.foobar2000.org/encoderpack
https://www.shutterencoder.com/ audio conversion, video conversion, downloader. It is a very handy tool. Sources: Shutter Encoder is licensed under the GPL 3 license, the source code is available on GitHub and uses the following programs to work: 7za ncnn dcraw yt-dlp ffmpeg exiftool tsMuxeR mediainfo dvdauthor bmxtranwrap
I like xrecode 3 when I convert audio and I'm too lazy to do ffmpeg command lines. (sister site keeps you covered)
A prog that I enjoy using for this task is ABYSSMEDIA Audio Converter Plus. Has a context menu option too - select files, right click, choose options , convert.
if you only need it to convert a couple of files use an online converter or get dBpoweramp. Here's info on what it can convert. https://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm
If you need to mass / batch convert without command prompt, use free Context menu File converter, it does a lot of things, lot of editable profiles, a lot of options.
