It came out for Mac maybe a year ago and just didn't seem to go anywhere. I guess they have Harrison to compete with, similar claims in their ad copy.

When the non-test version for Windows is released, we will have a realistic take on what it can & cannot do. Compatibility for CPU, audio i/o & MIDI are still unknown.

Without UAD hardware, how does it compare to other DAWs?

MixBus is being developed with the ability to swap out Comp, EQ & Preamp per channel strip. No iLok plus it runs on Linux, macOS & Windows.

Most annoying thing is Windows version does not support VST3 only VST2 (I ditched vst2 long long time ago)
So this is an instant hardpass
Second bummer: you can't connect hardware...I mean it's not possible to put your hardware synth on a MIDI track
I think external audio in maybe possible I haven't installed yet...but I saw a review & the guy said no VST3 & no support for external gear

It's crashed on me a couple of times and took a minute to wrap my head around some of the navigation and shortcuts but overall, I like it. Definitely imparts a sound/vibe to the overall mix. I'm not a fan of the way they implemented the piano roll, the midi editing in it feels clunky. For sketching out and building full tracks in it, its a hard pass for me.. I can knock out ideas in Maschine and Bitwig way faster. However, I can see myself mixing/mastering in Luna in the future. Personally I think thats where its strong suit really is and I'll probably be doing that with my next releases just to test it out further.

It does support VST3. I was able to load up not just UADx plugins but also any VST3 plugin I have installed on my system.

Supposedly, 3 days ago, it's still in Open Beta stage v.1.4.14.

Sorry I was wondering if I should install it so instead installing I searched youtubers reviews one said VST3 is not supported...
    Thanks so it's not true
    It does support VST3 LFG
I took advantage of the PluignBoutique megasale in may I bought a lot of UAD stuff for pennies & claimed for free
Soon all prices are reset so like Lexicon 224 will be over $300...I got it for free in a bundle I bought
I hope the Free version of Luna stays free forever
I hope there's only a 30 day limit on like few of the premium expansions like ARP, I can't remember trial premium plugins are coming with free Luna I hope the DAW itself stays free I don't care about the Pro version the Free is enough
    Thanks for the correction

Instrument tracks are MIDI tracks, you can load VST3 instruments no problem!

comments here are kinda weird ngl. mac user. ive had Luna for 2-3 years now. some sessions i use it. some sessions i use logic. its no different than any other daw. workflow is great. the way they've integrated their API Console plugins and Studer plugins into the daw is great. I'm more a producer than I am an engineer but still love the workflow for my demo mixes. guys here just sound like they want to be quick to bash for the sake of doing so. if you're going to try something, try it. give it time.

For you, Luna on Mac has had the benefit of refinement since the very first release. UAD chose to release a Beta version knowing it was anywhere close to a pre-release Beta. It is in reality an Alpha version. UAD is betting that enough people will do the research & testing for them, saving the cost of man hours for the same. This should mean that there will always be a free version to reward those who chose to be testers & offer feedback.

Windows is unforgiving when it comes to poorly coded software (especially audio/video). Missing features, plugin & driver support can result in some interesting system errors & crashes.

Reading the Luna for Windows FAQ, clearly chose to do things this way so, feedback & discussion is what we are expected to be doing. Hopefully in ways that help inform. Not to as you say, "bash".

First look from Yish In Your Ear.
