Yes, a controllable formant filter plus the impulse response of that shitty speaker inside the box and the tube... worth a try!

The USA wasn't the only one making well made great sounding effects and instruments 50-ish years ago. Japanese Roland, and through their label Boss, had great stuff like the CE-1 Chorus Pedal. The Colorsound pedals as well as way cool Univox stuff were also found on many pedalboards during that time. Perhaps effects made in The States at that time were market leaders but there too were other companies making great boxes. Many of "the best" guitars too and as of course amps and cabinets were manufactured in Europe and Japan.

The Talk-Box is so special, you really need the real thing. That's my opinion on the thread topic.
More so, they hold all of us back as a civilisation. They will be like cancers to others, no doubt.
The challenge on this sorrowful planet was to discern to let go of these things, and to go beyond as a whole.
We have to just wait for this to be realised, and to not hold animosity for those that have chosen the wrong way.

Let me know when you do put it up on Reverb. If I am able to magic up some money in the near future, my second order of business is to complete my guitar pedal board and this would fit quite nicely with the sounds i'm trying to make.

I also agree it would be impossible to acurately simulate a talkbox because of all the variables like: the sound pressure of the air coming up from the tube , the way your mouth articulates the sound, your lung capacity (if you have a health condition that restricts air passage from your lungs or if you naturally have a weak voice) and probably many more that I can't think of. There was a 70's vintage pedal pedal from E-H called the talking pedal with vowel type sounds which sounded more lika a wah pedal, it was crap I gave it away to a friend who wanted to experiment with and try to modify it. There is nothing at all that sounds like a real hardware talkbox.

That could be a vocoder rather than a talk box.

In the breakdown, that is subtle vocoder use, maybe with some Autotune. Same old thing in House for years.
But now we have VocalSynth, so it could be any plugin really.

At least @Strat4ever got to promote his gear for sale!

No software can reproduce the sound of a talk box period!!

I was thinking about it: teenagers are now convinced that the computer is the answer to everything, if you take away this certainty from a 16 year old, he will feel completely lost. You say:

No software can reproduce the sound of a talk box

This statement is wise and I 100% agree, but it's too direct: It sounds like a challenge and it can rapidly escalate in a generational clash in which you will become the enemy. Don't worry, these kids will learn with experience: they just need time (whether it's the talkbox or the other more important things in life)

message me after the new year if you are really serious because I have quite a few collectable pedals like the Original early 80's Boss VB-2, or the Ibanez PT-1000 of which it seems that mine may very well be one of the last few available for sale Ibanez PT-1000.jpg - http://www.effectsdatabase.com/model/ibanez/first/pt1000#pictures

The best option in these cases is to let the kids come to the truth on their own. Of course, we can be role models and indeed, it is our specific duty, but we should be "authoritative" and not "authoritarian". As an adult, intimidating younger people with phrases like "What do you want to know, you are too young" is always a wrong strategy.
You too, as a teenager, used to reject any advice from the older ones, I know that.

The most expansive part for talkbox is the driver or "compressor"
Sometimes, ppl use KU-516. Not cheap ...

But you can use broken horn speakers compressors.
Because they are more solid than the horn

Use ANY amp with the right impedance and roll.

Will do. But first I just need to find a rainbow, a leprechaun then have a conversation about his or her gold pot.
