    Hi everybody,

I just started using Amplitube 4 a couple of weeks ago and really like it compared to the Logic Pro X internal Amp Designer. The Logic Pro Amp Designer itself is great as well, but Amplitube allows me to export the presets so that the drummer/audio engineer (using Cubase) can import them and work with them while working on the final mix.

Do any of you have created Amplitube presets that imitate the sound of bands such as NOFX, Bad Religion, and the likes (basically all the bands on Fat Wreck Chords are of interest to me :winker:)? I tried recreating the one from this video, but didn't get the sound just right (perhaps there is something else to the sound that is not shown in the video). While I wouldn't mind paying the 1 GBP for this preset, I am trying to build a preset library at the moment, so this one preset wouldn't get me very far.

If any of you have presets that fit the description and would be willing to share, please post them here. I could imagine not being the only one who'd benefit from this.

I have attached my attempted prese (at4p was not an allowed extension to upload the file, so I posted the contents down below).

    Cheers

Why not do what other guitar players have done for decades and just roll your own? You could probably find the exact sound you want ... and it would be yours, not somebody else's soundalike. Part of the charm of Amplitube 4 is the ability to set it up exactly how you want it. Make your own myths. ;)

Yeah, we do that too. Usually I use some random (somewhat fitting) effect when recording, then create a sound that fits better once the other tracks have been recorded or sometimes re-record with a different effect) - then finally we finetune it together before I send the stems for final mixing (mainly because it wasn't possible to just share presets like this back when I wasn't using Amplitube).

These would just be templates to start from. Let's say I got the exact sound from NOFX's Linoleum (which isn't that special, it's just some distortion, but I like it). I wouldn't just use it as is, but tweak it so that it would fit whatever sound was needed for that particular song. That particular sound is probably a bad example, as I could just use any distortion and be good in the scenario. but I couldn't think of an actual effect that I'd like to imitate slightly.

I wasn't even aware that there was such a thing as presets for other guitar players' exact sounds. Now that I do I am just curious. But yeah, I wouldn't just take some particular sound 1:1 that would destroy the sound of the song I am currently working on just because I like the original song it had been used in. It'd just be a place to start from.

I can't imagine that an outfit like Kemper wouldn't have a huge business of just going to famous guitar players and sampling impulses of their entire rig. Presets is one thing, but if you could play an accurate version of, say, Brian May's entire actual rig (instead of just getting "in the ballpark" with Amplitube), people would be all over that thing.
