I am a big fan of Audio Damage BigSeq2, Output Movement, Cableguys ShaperBox 2 and Xfer LFOTool and wondering if there are any others in this category worth checking out? Having a built-in step/gate sequencer would be a big plus but I am open to any suggestions. I find these sort of tools are great for sparking up the tracks when I run out of ideas. TIA

You can check Sugar Bytes effects like Effectrix, Turnado, WOW2 or Looperator. SB are very good for unique effects, love their things

Speaking of multi-fx, I would so love to see my Yamaha A5000 or/and Ensoniq DP/4 as a VST. These are incredible and simpler to use than the boss - Eventide H3000 or just about any Eventide "H". Speaking of Eventide, their VST is pretty complex and far easier to program than the hardware. If you know what you want, that could be the way, or one of the ways to go.

Sugar Bytes Effectrix is genius, but a different kind of workflow, which is absolutely an advantage IMO. Turnado is rather straight forward, like having a bunch of Boss pedals [guilty of having those ]. Glitch 2 is very similar to Effectrix. Both incredibly inspiring FX! Mixing the FX piano roll style is rather unique.

Sugar Bytes Artillery is similar to Effectrix, but you can trigger the FX by MIDI. It's also incredible. I actually find that one even a tad more inspiring than Effectrix. In any case, these two are a must if you want to experiment with the FX and get some quite unusual results.

If you don't mind digging a little deeper and really experimenting or just being surprised, you can't go wrong with unfiltered audio plugins.

 

Thanks everyone for these great suggestions. I totally forgot that Tantra is also part of my arsenal. That thing is a beast. I will definitely try others and report back.

An underrated thing you can do to mangle sounds is use the vst versions of your soft synths instead of the vsti. As in using it as an fx instead of a sound generator/synth.

In case you're not into using fx versions of synths then... It's not mind blowing or amazing but If you would like to add some movement or groove some basic synth style controls (filter/Lfo's) but onto any synth or sound source you'd like then: Samsara Cycle Audio - ASF-1. Also if you need an fx enevelope then Elysia - nvelope and Guda Audio - EvnvelopR are excellent to complete a good set of synth controls where they are otherwise missing.

Blue 3 Rotary is also very unique especially on keys and leads, the fx plugin not the rotary organ it comes with which is also very good. Or any spinning rotary fx vst for that matter like DB33FX or Spin. Totally underrated for uses other than organs. Do you even know how funky your shit could sound?

Any Dopplers you like to make it seem like your music is being played out of a sci-fi spaceship that's floating by you which Elon Musk designed himself.

Stutter Edit 2 from iZotope is one I didn't see being mentioned here yet, very interesting plugin too.
Replaced Glitch 2 from my collection for the time being, but since there are a lot of suggestions being made, SE2 might get replaced itself.
