some nice ideas here, great vibe...
although the grating horn sound in the intro needs cleaning up or be made to sit in the mix a bit more, although a variation on the drop would make a nice intro.
tighten the kick [maybe something with a bit more snap?]and low bass : define their space in the mix more by keeping in mono and using more compression perhaps? the other [more harmonically rich saw or pulse] bass sound can be placed in the mix better with eq, compression, auto pan and saturation. or conversely, a more raw and unprocessed wave {no fx! ] can sometimes really cut through.
subtractive eq the the other tracks.[especially cut or attenuate frequencies below 100 hz to give kick and bass more room.
possibly drop overall levels of tracks as there seems to be overall distortion, perhaps from pushing limiter too hard? give the vocal a bit more space and presence too. What software are you using? PM me if u want any other ideas....

The overall distortion you are hearing is most likely soundcloud's audio compression, I uploaded the mp3 file as the flac upload was getting weird pops and clicks and, weirdly, the mp3 doesn't. Other than that it could be the saturator on the master bus, I doubt the limiter had any problems because the most I saw it clip was around 4 db from transients and all transient sounds were compressed and eq'd already anyway I also measured the wav file using the dynamic range meter and it was a solid 7, I'd worry about limiter distortion around 5 and up. I never start mixing before putting a really steep filter on the master bus for mid, cutting everything between 30 to 35 hz and side, cutting from at least 120 hz. Also almost every bus on this track had at least 2 EQ cutting away loud and resonant frequencies using 2 speaker systems and 3 different headphones and balancing all the way between them all. Not sure what the horn sound you refer to is tho and as I understand a "drop" is more of a dubstep related term so I'm struggling to understand what you mean by the word drop and where I might find my own drop. I'm right happy with the vocals as they are, since there is no lyrical content here the vocals are more for "spice" and relatability.

No issues found here. Not over compressed, bass is mono, maybe the high melody synth (aka horns) is a bit too low.
The track could benefit from a longer different part.

I really like the overall mood of the track. Especially those "shaky" synths. I get the tighten the kick thing. Or rather use a different one. One thats a little more thumby but shorter id say. I don't see the bass problem. Rather that the highs could use a little bit less compression ( or lesser ratio(?). Good Job:wink:

hey T3NR@ , i know how much time and energy goes into production and I am not dissing your work. I have been listening to and making prog and psy since 2000. I'm not an expert but I have spent a lot of time on it! I was trying to help with constructive criticism, which to me is the best kind of feedback anyone can give you. Personally I find being told that my track is good or whatever doesn't help me to improve my skills.
I am listening on Audio Technica ATH m-50x. The "drop" I refer to is when The kick drops out at 1:35 ish. I meant maybe build a longer intro from a version of that, 4 mins seems a bit short for a prog tune. I can expand more on the other things i mentioned if u want but it's your tune, who cares what i think? keep up the good work!
Here are some links to prog tunes where i think the bass sits really nicely in the mix,

A good musical idea is coming through. But to me, at this stage of the idea the mix sounds like a muddy mess in places. I would have mixed it differently. I would let everything be heard. In your mix, some sequences are too low and muffled. The screaching sound is very annoying, not pleasing to the ear. Sorry, but your knowledge of mix frequencies have not helped you produce a good mix. My solution: space everything or separate things out so that you hear everything clearly. Re-mix. It sounds like you've whisked together loads of ingredients and then tried to fix the frerquencies afterwards to get that clarity I'm talking about. How about starting by assuming for a minute that compression and frequency adjusting don't exist. Space things out so you can hear everything clearly. See what that sounds like and post it here.

Thank you for your thoughts. I kept listening to it after the upload and something keeps annoying me, gonna redo the mix sometime. I still don't get the "horn" you refer to at what time does it start? I also had made it longer originally but I ran out of ideas at one point and scrapped it all for a radio length track.

Yea I get that, was not thinking you did but the advice on mixing was all the basic things that I did pretty much the whole way and it wasn't something that I needed to improve the mix. The problem was more that I was not referencing enough and tiredness, pulled an almost all-nighter at one point and I had to keep my head on straight the next day when cabling a speaker system in my country's ministry of the interior, which led me to do some of the mixing half-assedly. :/ And I do admit it stung a bit after all the work. :D I am going to redo it when I have less ants crawling out of my skull, finished mixing another track just last night another night with about 4 hours of sleep and a possible 13 hour work day is in store for today. Is there a sale o caffeine pills in bulk anywhere? Anyway thanks for your thoughts.

When does the screaching begin exactly?

Yea it's hard to keep tabs on genres these days when everything is so saturated with ideas and genres being melded together, I personally got a 2007ish vibe when I listened to a lot of ASOT shows, fuck that 07 yearmix still gives me the feels. I'm glad you liked it. ^_^

Well.. After listening to this and the other for an hour on repeat I guess i do have a couple notes... Hope this doesn't offend anyone but you could probably teach Oakenfold a couple things about mixing, and 2. I insist a movement be started to call this stuff Trance again. If any kids try to call this progressive house their glow stick get snatched and used as nunchucks.

dude... thanks for listening to my opinion. Many times I have poured my life and soul into a track for it to be met with less than i wanted...a "meh" or "that hi hat is horrible " or you can see the boredom of your listener kick in before it gets to the really good bit.....
But that process really has made me better at making music. For instance, you will know from an honest listener in your presence when the energy drops in a tune or that maybe "that" sound you thought was the best ever on reflection ruins the whole tune.
I think its about perspective and perception....you can bring "the best tune ever" into being but that might only be to you in the studio , or it might only be at that moment you play it at a party when your live set is going on unexpectedly long...don't burn yourself out over one tune, your next one might be even better....The creative process itself is where the magic happens: It's much better for your brain than drugs and parties...
My diagnosis of what i thought was "wrong" with your personal artwork might well have been wrong but it obviously touched a nerve. Dont stress... with perspective you will either get it to sound awesome or like I said....next!
