    Hi,

Does anybody know of a stereo imager that expands the image via frequency combing which has controls for selecting the range of frequencies to expand and the amount?

Because I have an old track which has stereo width below 4khz (it's baisically mono above that), and I would like to expand the high frequencies while keeping the lower ones intact.

Have you tried iZotope's Ozone? I love its multiband stereo imaging.

Yes, but i said *frequency combing*. Delay sounds pretty horrible to me. Ozone uses delay.

junh1024, you might have some success trying the "Macomate 88" comb filter from http://dsp.trilete.net/.
It has a sufficient number of comb filters and a 2nd-order filter in the feedback path which you could set to HighPass+4kHz.
Initially setting every even-number filter to max and every odd-number filter to min level, then using a second instance of the plugin for the second stereo channel with all filter levels exactly the opposite, might at least be a (drastic) starting point for your experimentation.

How about Quik Quak Mash Tactic? You see the mono or stereo audio displayed like a frequency domain on an oscilloscope. Then you use a selection tool to select up to eight zones, and you can drag them to the left or right, thus repositioning bands of frequency within the stereo field. It looked pretty cool, but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

Thanks to the people that suggested combing. Most of the people suggested something which did not have combing (including QQ Mashtactic which is a stereo extraction tool not a repositioning tool). Filters that don't comb would not help if there is no spatial information in the high end (which is what I wrote in the first post)
