    Hi lyric8,

    You can try this: "Sonogram"
or AudioXplorer, Spek (the last both are free).

Sonogram seems to do what you need....

    Hope being helpful.....

I like to use the spectrum analyzer (and everything else) in iZotope RX which run as standalone.
The window is adjustable so it can be any size you want.

By standalone do you mean standalone VST or standalone APP? FFT=spectrum

    APP:

http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/spectre/‎ Is pretty good as a standalone app. But you need to use Soundflower (may not work on latest OSX) or similar to make an audio input out of an audio output.

Oceanaudio has builtin live FFT & spectrogram (free)

Audition is a sound editor, but has a good FFT

    RX as mentioned by thesis

    VST:

    Span as mentioned DR. H

I recently picked up LAMA but haven't had a chance to test it thoroughly yet. Its analyser appears to be fairly responsive and has a top resolution of 1/4 tone (1/24 octave) and a dynamic range of 144 dB. I'm much more familiar with isotope RX, which I agree is an excellent toolset.
