Hi, I'm looking for a simple built VST sampler, it would be great if it was built something like fl studio.



I use cubase 11 pro as a daw but the built-in sampler track is somehow too cumbersome or rather a bit too confusing for me....its to much to Sample an 808 with the Filter section, AMP section...



Do you have any tips for a simple sampler ?

you can use fl studio as plugin in cubase to use any fl studio built-in instruments.

I use Tal, Kontakt, Battery, and other plugins that do sampling. But I use the QuickSampler and Drum Machine Designer in Logic more often than not. I have a very hard time believing the sampler in Cubase is anything less than top notch. or very close to it.

 

Can I be completely honest? I can't even remember off the top of my head if I've ever used much of the sampler in Cubase when I used Cubase 3 or if it even looked like that back then but with only one glance the screen shot you provided I don't see how the Cubase sampler is any more complicated than Fl Studio's sampler.

TAL, Serato as already mentioned are great 3rd part samplers if you really need something else.

Dude, you actually can use Fl Studio's sampler in other DAW's? I'm completely surprised right now, I always thought it was a native only plugin that wasn't sold as inside Juice Pack like other Image-Line plugins. Damn I learned something new today, thanks!

Speedrum is my go to drum sampler but you can totally get away with using it as a regular sampler because it's very simple to use and very effective.

 

Whats the problem with Cubase sampler? It's even simpler than FL Studio Sampler imo

 

I really like the FL Studio sampler, because it's really simple and easy to use for most sounds. But I think the Cubase sampler is fine too. I suggest that you should just learn more about the Cubase sampler... Another plugin or FL Studio as a plugin for simple tasks sounds much more cumbersome to me, and your CPU will thank you later, too.

 

I'm not sure, last time I used FL Studio was more then 10 years ago
but this method helped me run Slicex and 3OSC in Studio One.

Interesting. I use Cubase because I'm used to. But I don't get it why Steinberg isn't able to build apps (or plugins) that are easy to use and don't look intimidating. Everything looks complicated even when it isn't.

But I had to grin a bit: That would be like using a VW in the engine compartment of a Ford as a motor. Somehow a bit overkill to use a full blown DAW as sampler.

FL Studio VSTi is not a "full blown DAW" =) it looks more like a virtual rack plugin: if it can load up to 16 plugins (for example), but user loads only 2 plugins - this virtual rack needs ram only for 2 plugins =) and all audio processing will be done by the host's sound engine of course.

 

but Cubase one is able to use rex files too so not worthless at all (Sampler/Fruity Slicer together this is why looks bit more complicated)

Looking for a similar thing here. Grace and TX16Wx are powerful for soundsets, drumkits or libraries, but they are too cumbersome for one-shots. So far I'm just dragging them on the audio track timeline. Live and FL Studio got cool samplers for one-shots, why is there no third-party solution : (
