    Hey everyone,

I’ve been using the Action Ring system from Logitech, and I really love how it works. The ability to access shortcuts through the on-screen overlay is just perfect — it integrates really well with many programs, works great in Windows itself, and even in Studio One.

    It’s absolutely flawless in Ableton.
But for some strange reason, Bitwig doesn’t seem to be recognized at all by the Action Ring.

Has anyone managed to get it working in Bitwig or found a workaround?
Would love to hear if someone has already solved this issue.

    Thanks in advance!

The Logitech Actions Ring (part of Logi Options+ software) relies on app-specific plugins for deep integration, particularly with Adobe Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop and Premiere Pro, but there's no official plugin or native support for Bitwig Studio. This is why it works seamlessly in Ableton (which has dedicated Logitech/MX Creative Console compatibility via key commands or MIDI mappings) and Studio One, but fails to detect or adapt to Bitwig.

    Potential Workarounds
While there's no direct fix, you can approximate the Actions Ring's shortcut-overlay functionality by mapping Bitwig's extensive keyboard shortcuts to your Logitech MX device buttons or dial in Logi Options+. Bitwig allows full customization of shortcuts, and Logitech's software supports assigning keyboard macros or actions per app. Here's how to set it up:

    1. Update and Configure Logi Options+:
      • Ensure you have the latest Logi Options+ installed (version 1.95 or newer as of mid-2025), as it expanded Actions Ring support to all MX series devices. Enable the Logi Plugin Service in settings, as it handles app interactions.
      • In Logi Options+, go to your device's configuration (e.g., MX mouse or keyboard button), select "Show Actions Ring" or assign custom keyboard shortcuts/macros to buttons. For non-Adobe apps, the Ring falls back to generic Windows shortcuts or custom mappings.
      • Test triggering the Ring in Bitwig—if it doesn't auto-adjust, manually assign Bitwig-specific shortcuts (e.g., play/stop, zoom, undo) to Ring "bubbles" via hotkeys.
    2. Customize Shortcuts in Bitwig:
      • Open Bitwig's Dashboard > Settings > Shortcuts tab. Search for actions (e.g., "Play/Stop", "Zoom Horizontal", "Undo") and assign or modify keyboard shortcuts (e.g., Ctrl+Z for undo). Bitwig supports global mappings that work across projects.
      • Use Bitwig's Commander (Ctrl+Enter) to quickly search and execute/test commands without leaving your workflow.
      • For DAW-specific controls like scrubbing or transport, map them to simple hotkeys if your MX Creative Console's jog wheel isn't natively compatible—Bitwig can respond to keyboard-emulated inputs.
    3. App-Specific Profile in Logitech Software:
      • Create a Bitwig profile in Logi Options+ to assign MX buttons/dial to your custom Bitwig shortcuts (e.g., map thumb button to trigger a macro for "Record + Play"). This mimics the Ring's quick access without full overlay detection. Users report success with similar setups for other non-supported apps by treating it as generic shortcut launching.
      • If using an MX mouse, enable horizontal scroll or gestures for Bitwig zooming if it responds (some users note partial Logitech mouse compatibility).
    4. Troubleshooting Steps:
      • Restart Logi Options+, Bitwig, and your PC. Ensure Bitwig is in focus and not running in fullscreen mode, as the Ring may not detect it otherwise.
      • Check for Windows updates or Logi firmware updates, as compatibility issues (e.g., with F-keys or triggers) have been patched in recent releases.
      • If the Ring lags or fails to load, toggle off/on the Logi Plugin Service or reinstall Logi Options+.
      • Contact Logitech support for MX device troubleshooting—they may confirm no Bitwig plugin exists but can guide custom mappings.
If these don't suffice, consider MIDI controllers with Bitwig scripts (e.g., generic remote scripts for MX-like dials) or request Bitwig/Logitech integration via their forums/support. No community workaround specifically for Actions Ring in Bitwig turned up, but the shortcut-mapping approach gets close for transport, editing, and zooming.
