Hello

I am wondering where Logic Pro downloaded it's additional files, in particular its 'Essential sounds and instruments for Logic Pro and Mainstage'

It's not something I have ever used and I highly doubt I will use it in the future, So that's just a waste of space on my Mac

Do it the easy way. Apple menu, About this Mac, Storage Tab, Music Creation item on the left. Or in Logic, you can do Logic Menu, Sound Library, Relocate Sound Library, and dump it all on your external too. I think the entire thing is like 60gb. Waste of space is an understatement. But they are all relatively nice quality samples, at least.

If you are trying to free up some space, because it sounds like a concern; make sure you remember to disable Itunes from automatically saving every file you play in it. Worst waste of space ever. That ends up in /Users/your username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes

You can also do /users/ your username/ Music/Audio Music Apps/

Try to get into a habit of using Command + Up Arrow to quickly go up through all these subfolders. It's maybe the easiest way of memorizing these locatons.

If you are going to put samples on an external drive, here is another one. In Logic, from a open project, click F to open File Browser. Click All Files tab. Underneath that, hit the computer monitor icon, and navigate to your external drive and the main folder you will have your samples in. You can have many subfolders inside that one. Then highlight that main folder, go to the bottom left corner of that sidebar, hit the gear icon for settings,, and then hit add to Untagged Loops. It will store that location where you can load samples from into that file browser. Everything you play and preview from there will be auto-corrected to project BPM.
