I find it odd that he will take any genre as far as i know you have to really LIKE that music before you even try to improve the mix in the final mastering stage..

I am very flexible when it comes to music i like almost everything but there is some genre i dont really LIKE.
(Nowadays very popular as it requires no physical instruments whatsoever and you only have to be a good computer tweaker to make that music...aka they all sound the same to me as the artist? have no musical knowledge or musical EAR...)

And if i where to mastering a song from that genre it want be as good beacuse i really dont LIKE the song..(But even in those genre i find some songs that i like but they are very few)

First of all i am pretty sure i was gonna have a negative feeling against the song and that is NOT good
(well i suppose you will be trained at the mastering-school to put those feelings aside but i am pretty sure you MUST choose music you like instead of music you dont like its not like you can put feeleings away just like that?)

So the end result wouldn´t come out as good as it where if you have a positive feeling for the song..

On the other hand if you listen to a song many many many times i am pretty sure you gonna like that song eventually..
(who havent experinced that when a popular song is played endlessly on radio and tv stations you hated it at first but after some months you start to hum the melody?)
But in a mastering situation you dont have that time..
