I'm looking to get the latest version of Kontakt Full. I think it's like $300 and from all the headaches I'm reading on this forum, it might be worth it. My question is that can I use non-legit instrument libraries with legit version of Kontakt? I have very little money and even less time so I'm just trying to work with what I have.

I'm creating an animated series and want a custom soundtrack to go along with it. But I'm on a shoestring budget here. Will be working with Cakewalk old school if that matters at all.

    Thanks for any advice!

I personally wouldn't be buying anything by Native Instruments now. If you hadn't heard, they currently are going through some financial troubles and are in insolvency right now. They may end up being just fine, but I wouldn't buy from them PERIOD (even though I own an older Komplete), but if you really want to buy I strongly suggest you wait a bit for a sale.. I have to think that they'll start blowing out some products to try and help their situation. Can't say that for certain though. They usually have a couple sales per year though, where Kontakt is half off.

Anyways, I don't think you can use non-legit libraries with legit Kontakt (someone can correct me on that if im wrong), but you can use both legit and non legit on the same PC.

I actually stopped using Kontakt at Version 7, but I had no problems with running both legit and k'd Kontakt on the same PC with different libraries in each.

@naitguy is correct. you cannot run cracked libraries with the legit version of kontakt.

I've had this question on how to tell which uploaded kontakt instruments works for only k'd kontakt and which with legit ones, because there is a difference. (I'm legit)
Many times I would d/l one only to find it won't. Its been quite a while I've d/l'd a library. I think maybe if it states it will work with kontakt player, which is the free version, it'll work with legit kontakt. Probably as the person above says about k'd ones, I'm thinking if it's gonna work in kontakt player, it's not a k'd library.
    Perhaps someone will clarify.

Kontakt Player and free libraries will be some of the first casualties if it really goes south for them, devs, and users.

Where are you talking about downloading them from? It should be easy to tell before you even consider downloading something.
Sometimes, it can be harder to tell what is the minimum required version of Kontakt for something, than if it is free or not.

I'm on an older computer for my DAW, and I almost never end up downloading something that doesn't work for whatever Kontakt version I am using, 7 something, but definitely not the latest and greatest version. I'm just a little careful what I download, maybe a little more than most other users due to possible version concerns, and the wasted bandwidth and time if I do not pay attention.

If I had a big list of them to do, I would make a list file and ask AI to lookup the entire list in a few seconds. GPT is a very good way to figure out what exact versions of anything your machine will run. "What is the last version of Ozone supported by MacOS Catalina?". It will even tell you what luck other people have had with minor version numbers not even listed as being supported officially. In seconds.
