I have the same feelings. I like to watching channel mixbus tv but this review is weird. This plugin do not fit to his arsenal.
And the whole video he says what a great plugin, what a excellent plugin. I'm impressed so much but not suprised bla bla bla.
Even title is like pink candy: "...Grammy Worthy Sound at Your Fingertips". Lol.

 

Mixbus tv has great content but he is also a very shady person .

 

I will tell you this, and you can take it to the bank. Who taught Al Schmidtt? Tom Dowd. What is the Dowd's way of recording? No EQ. AL Schmitt does NOT use EQ during takes. NONE. It is all about mic, and mic placement. During mixes he DOES use EQ but minimal. Of course, all of this is possible only because the starting point is a great room, with a great vocalist, instrument and player, all which is followed by the best mics from which he gets to choose the one that fits the vocal or instruments, expert mic placement, and down to the very best pre amps and consoles. Let us not forget that mic placement is an art that takes years and many sessions to master.

personally I'm ready to use all the Wave one knob plugins, AlSchmitt and all the rest, if it gives me more time with your avatar's girl.

But more on topic.. (on the topic of mixing but away from this specific plugin):
It seems that it is best to learn to mix with "regular" stuff..
These kind of plugins won't help learning except in a roundabout way requiring so much knowledge with analysers and experience with ears ...
...that it would take less time to learn to mix with "normal" tools.
I've tried to use some of these (Soothe, Ozone, etc) and looking at graphical changes, but it gets so confusing.
And it is frustrating when Neutron "corrects" Soothe, and then Ozone "corrects" Neutron.

 

Well, he is saying pretty much what I said here after testing it.
But then who, as a YT channel especially, wouldn't want to cosey up to Al, or just use his name to get some clicks?

I do hope you are meaning that The Pirate's avatar has real bosoms and that your example doesn't?
If not, I shall lament in advance for your shock and subsequent disappoinment for when you get your hands on such examples.

Raves about it sounding great. It is louder for sure.

One plugin that gives similar (and more results), aside from the echo & chamber types, is the Chandler Audio Zener Bender.

Exactly. I've known Ray Hendriksen for 35 years since I was a teenager, so I have witnessed this many times!
But it only really 'sunk in' in the early 00s when I walked in on him* in a session for The Zombies...(*I was across the road using Malcolm Toft's Trident!)
All instrument faders on the desk at 0. All eq flat. All faders in DP at 0. My head blown.
And I think I've been asking Ray the wrong questions for most of my life, because it was only 2 years ago when he told me he had recorded Hendrix too! As if Supertramp and Queen weren't enough!

If I live until Al's age and I didn't sound like I was gargling solid phlegm I'd probably be disappointed.

I would say that if you have to ask that after reading this whole thread, you should not buy it.
Or, you should buy it.
One of those two but I've gotten a bit confused.
Maybe best to wait for a few more pages or until the sale goes off.

 

Not worth buying something you will stop using either immediately or in the near future. Develop you own FX chains for tracks, sub-busses & mix busses. From there you will gain experience from adjusting those chains from song to song.

 

It's just a mixture of a simple EQ, compressor and reverb. I'd rather go for Waves RVox, Valhalla Plate and use a simple three band EQ with low shelf, mid bell and high shelf (stock EQ should be sufficient to start with). This on principle what it's doing too but with these options you'll spend less money and learn something.
