There are times when I revisit old projects and/or undertake installation on a fresh setup, and I am forced to research what version of certain software is the best/required fit in the situation.

A lot of people probably try installing only the latest version of things on a new system, but legacy versions are often required (32-bit support, keygen releases versus patched releases, VST/VST2 support, lower OS requirements, renamed .dll files, and so on), and it can be a bit of research to find which old version is ideal in such situations.

This is a running list of potentially handy references. Please add to the list of the last version of a software to perform a specific function which newer versions cannot.

- "AKAI.Professional.MPC.v2.9.0-R2R" is the last scene release with Windows 7 support.

- "Arturia.V.Collection.4.v4.0.3-R2R" contains "Solina V.dll" which is renamed to "Solina V2.dll" in later bundles. To use an older project which references "Solina V.dll", one must be aware that the v5 or v6 bundle will not suffice.

- "Eventide.Ensemble.Bundle.v2.9.1-R2R" is the last scene release with 32-bit support.

- "KORG.WAVESTATION.v1.8.3-R2R" is the last scene release with 32-bit support.

- "Native.Instruments.Kontakt.5.v5.8.1.NO.INSTALL.UPDATE.WIN" is the last release which can convert older hardware sampler formats such as: Akai, Emu, Ensoniq, Kurzweil, and Roland.

- Propellerhead ReCycle 2.0 (either Paradox or OxYGeN) is the last scene release to support SCSI sample transfer for hardware samplers.

- "ReLab.LX480.Complete.v2.0.2.WIN.VST-AudioUTOPiA" is the last scene release to support 32-bit.

- "Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.2.4.2c.Software.UPDATE.WIN" is the last release to support 32-bit.

- "Waves.Mercury.Complete.VST.DX.RTAS.v1.01.HAPPY.NEW.YEAR-AiR" is the last scene release for Waves Audio Direct-X support.

- "Waves.Complete.v9r30.Incl.Patch.and.Keygen-R2R" is the last scene release with 32-bit support.

- "XLN.Audio.Addictive.Drums.2.Complete.v2.1.7.Incl.Keygen.HAPPY.NEW.YEAR" is the last scene release which works in legit PT.

- "XLN.Audio.Addictive.Drums.2.Complete.v2.1.9.WIN.OSX-R2R" is the last scene release with 32-bit support.
