I have made the exact same experiences, starting 4 - 5 years ago already. KVR used to be a cool forum with open and heated discussions about audio software. But that seems to be in the past!

 

I haven't even stuck my big toe into those chilly waters for years and years now. The only reason I have to ever visit is their bi-yearly vst KVR contest and maybe I even missed the last one. No loss to me.

However, not every racist comment constitutes incitement to hatred. For the courts to classify a comment as incitement to hatred, it must be public. Therefore, it makes a difference whether a statement is made in a private bar or on social media. The public, and thus the impact of shaming, is greater online.

Legal Recourse
What can be the consequences of a hate speech comment?

• Private cease-and-desist letter
• Out-of-court warning with a cease-and-desist declaration subject to penalty, possibly via a lawyer's letter
• Civil injunction and/or judgment for damages, possibly even compensation for pain and suffering
• Deletion of the comment from the platform
• Reimbursement of the opposing party's legal fees
• Payment of court costs
• Criminal complaint/criminal conviction for a fine or imprisonment
• Termination of employment
• Temporary or permanent school expulsion/suspension
