SynthMaster is an ‘all-around’ semi-modular software synthesizer and effect plug-in that features many different synthesis methods.

All users of SynthMaster and SynthMaster Player are strongly urged to update SynthMaster to v2.6.17.

    Changes in SynthMaster v2.6.17
    • SynthMaster AAX is not syncing to host tempo.
    • Mouse wheel increment is incorrect for knobs.
    • SynthMaster startup time is longer that it was before.
    • Favorite attribute is not assigned for expansion presets.
    • MIDI learn for XY Pads doesn’t work.
    • SynthMaster Player fails to load some expansion preset banks upon host session load.

I love how the changelog makes it look like it is now worse than before. :D

    :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
    Ahahhah exactly what i thought!
Well, here's first update in years, we increased load time by 200%, now it may suddenly crash in cubase and it stinks too. Happy? :bleh:

Somebody here who own it can tell me if license is tied to machine or just to user data?

    Here and there.

@ Copylefter – I dunno details but since years it uses a simple Serial protection.

No more C/R – Serial Number cp only! :excl:

    Not strange at all.
    1 - it's watermarked
2 - serial check is anything but simple, and info are stored in a license file alongside user personal data.

I can't access those threads at KVR, their server is crashing continuosly when I try to access
so I can't see what they was talking about, but the version I have was sent me by a guy who bought it a month ago,
so it's not old for sure. I can't even open it with his valid license, that's why I fear it use systemID or other ways to tie auth to hardware.
I tried to analyze it, but i can't even get to open gui, so nothing to do for now. Actually it says no valid license found at host startup,
don't even need to instantiate it. It's not a simple protection for sure.

Thanks for all the technical info copylefter.
    It's really appreciated.
I was wondering why was ASSiGN the last group who released this synth.
Now I know that this is another *camel audio* styled situation. :snuffy:

their website signs all files and soundbanks with your username/password and serial number. even soundbanks are done with that.
i haven't tried to install my copy on another computer though.

Thanks for explaining, so its definitely not tied to hardware.
There must be something wrong with the license I got.
The fact that used to work at digidesign is anithing but a good credential to me
An awsome company known to spend more coding time to write limitation to the software than to actually develop it
Let alone the protection, if it wasn't for iLok big mama they will be fucked like anybody else.
This said, the guy who run KV331 is a good coder, no doubt, clever protection and great product
I don't think the demo can be uncrippled, the time limits and drop outs are usually not a problem (well, depends, not the bigger at least),
but if the code to recall and save presets is missing there's nothing to do. Here is even more difficult cause it use checksum,
so you can't touch a byte without making it crash, unless you patch the checksumming or modify the binary leaving the same sum
(unlikely cause it may checks specific sections, not the overall sum).

in another words, synthmaster protection scheme must be pretty well done, with lots of checks on the app side + everything from the app to the soundbanks signed with our data.

I don't think their going that further, that should be insane.
It can be that soundbanks and preset store a key generated by the plug-in related to crypto keys,
but I don't know if it is related to the specific auth data of the licensed plug that created it, making it trackable. It may be though.
To me it seems too much work to protect just presets. Anyway, yeah it's well protected but crackable like anything else.
Like iLok1 which has been cracked, like MCFACT3 which has been reversed by the great Gouda back in the days (Rip  ).

What have been waiting for regarding 64Bit? People to get sick and buy HD rigs with dsp processing *yes*
And customers to start getting really bored seeing an almost free daw like Reaper offer tenth of function
ProToolers wait from decades, so they were forced too. I love PT and I find it great and unbeatable for audio editing,
but it's the only piece of software I would never buy, even having money to waste I'll have to plug my nose to buy it.
Even more now that Avid bought the whole digi boat.

Well, talking about 0day scene, the only group that keeps preing audio stuff is UNION, and usually their stuff have been already released by R2R (some nukenet claim they stole some regs and licenses from R2R keygens....dunno if true).

AiR and ARCADE are there too but they hardly relase anything, maybe a release per year just to remember them, and that's all.

DYNAMiCS are alive too, but they stopped releasing apps and concentrated in releasing only sample libaries (and we all know they are stolen from p2p).

SONiTUS and BYS release only sample libraries but stolen too, nothing original.

And that's the resume of 0day scene. Yeah, it's that sad, almost dead.
So the times when many groups pred a lot of stuff are gone.

Talking about the guys that quitted, I know one, deepZ0ne from Radium, he is spanish too and now he is in charge of the IT infrastructure of some university I won't say here for obvious reasons... what a huge loss for the audio community, those were the real deal...

Talking of P2P, only R2R are alive as real releasing group. They were formed when ASSiGN quitted and they are the ones rocking the scene.
But there are individuals that bring great stuff, like copylefter here, or STUDiO, or tracer and many others...CHAOS, is too busy with RF, and other problems (you know which ones) made him stop releasing stuff...

So we are very quite R2R dependent if you wanna call it that...
