Omega Transformer 458a is Kush's first foray into true tube emulation, and for me it represents serious next-level distortion. It is far and away the warmest, smoothest, and most 'alive' distortion plugin I have in my arsenal, and its richness and sparkle even at subtle settings surpass a few of my favorite analog tone-boxes I've owned.

This Omega is based on a mostly unsung hero of the tube preamp world, the Altec 458a, not quite obscure but nevertheless unknown to most. It has a fat tone that craps out in a very delicious way, getting intensely crusty but never harsh, turning cymbals from brass to gold, and gluing bass into a molten fiery blob of love.

The most interesting thing to my ears is how well it captures the unique 'tube sag' when confronted with bass transients while driven hard. Riding just on the edge of this effect can have a profound impact on the character and movement of a sound, turning something limp into something animated and alive, with a velvety top-end presence that can't be duplicated using conventional eq techniques.

Their other transformer plugs are nothing to sneeze at either. My secret weapon.

They make some really good plugins that always catch my ear.

 

Naaah, these sound more real.

 

The Sly-Fi plugs are really nice too. The saturation in Axis works wonders on vox, gets you there quicker. Saves me from using a separate saturation plug.

CPU optimizations will be improved later this year, for all their plugins.

 

love kush audio, never dissapoints and this is 30 bucks... instabuy to throw on my 808's, new distortion flavours are always nice to have!anybody else use kush audio and is in trap production?

do i need that for trap if i have pro-q 2 or the dmg audio one? what u think? i was thinking of getting their annual subscription (even though i have to get used to this new subscription salesmodel)

 

It's good for everything, pro-q 2 is transparent it doesnt give you any color. Hammer is all about color and vibe , instant mojo. The subscription is a no brainer , go for it:D
