Why would not? It's, afterall, just another overpriced(for my opinion :excl: ) MIDI controler. *yes*

yeah, i can't figure out what the heck is going on with akai these days. first they release the mpk261 which is the board i was all set to buy, but then before any of those showed up in the stores they came out with the "advanced" which has a nicer display, but leaves off half the controls - i mean seriously, no faders and half the pads? and $100 more? they just don't seem to have their shit together these days.

but the native instruments "komplete kontrol" seems even worse to me. how they can have the balls to call that thing a "komplete" controller with no faders and no pads and a limited number of rotary controls. that's far from complete in my opinion.

but to answer your question, i think if you have all of the latest updates to the kracks and the kracked version of the komplete kontrol software you would be okay, according to posts that i read on az. here's one quote:

I had the opportunity to check the Akai Advance (no "d" there...) out extensively at Musikmesse a few weeks ago. Apparently, it's not primarily a controller in the common sense with knobs and faders, but the concept is that you have a keyboard which allows you (with the "vip" software - what a moronic name, btw) to browse all presets of all vsti's without the need to change instruments or tracks in your daw. The vip software would load all vsti's and with the display on the keyboard you could choose from loosely categorized presets. You'd have all pads or leads from all your instruments in one folder and could browse and layer them without having to look to your computer screen. That's it. There is nothing more to it.
I cannot imagine one step in my workflow where I this would come in handy, but if you're a stage keyboarder this might be of use to you.
Overall it was a very poor presentation of redundand piece of hardware, a piece of hardware that appears to be a paniced reaction to native instruments' komplete kontrol.
