Sorry to be that dude, but really want to try nail Kontakt down, need recommendations on most stable version and how to add libraries and they actually stick as this is the only week point in my sounds not being able to utilise the libs, or is it just a minefield at this point? it seems like you need some kind of which craft to get the damn thing to work!

 

it's never been a "minefield" after v6 really. You just have to put in a tiny bit of effort to find a release that will work.
Which you start on by including your Macs processor type and your version of MacOS.

 

NI Kontakt 8.8 vKDanilov Portable version is what you are looking for. Had no issues whatsoever

 

hscio kontakt 8 + your libraries (audioz,rutracker etc) + jose laportunica add library tool 4 or kontakt lib script + optionally place your librarys on a external ssd if you like storage on your machine + nicnt generator if needed for old libraries.

 

Im on m4 max sequoia 15.2, I think once I've had some success with some libraries I should be ok but they seem way more temperamental

 

So this tells us you can run any solid release up to most current version. After this you want "MacOS Add Library v4" and KLU.

. Júnior Porciúncula MacOS Add Library v4. Get KLU 2 by Fredd Bloggs from here, just search. It is very good for editing NICNT files and assigning wallpapers. HCiso release, newest version. Just read the comments in the thread to make it will be a good version. Sometimes NI put out update versions with problems, not problems from HCiso releases. Just check.

 

How do I get the Kontakt 8 Tools? I did a clean install of HCISO 8.7.2 (macos) and it's completely empty, not showing anything at all. No library, no tools, no nothing. I know how to install my libraries, but what do I need to do to get the tools, like Chords/Patterns/Phrases to show up under Tools?

just got sampletraxx shadow drones to try out to see if I can get it to work, could be down to my being a noob with the whole installation but will try and report back

 

Added through KLU no sign of it in Kontakt

And which Library do I need to install to get the TOOLS(!) which come with Kontakt 8 to show up under TOOLS?

 

congratulations!
Now there will be one more user on the forum who will constantly do some stupid thing to install libraries that don't need it, and because of this, his other normal libraries will "break."

I have been using bobbyD's FULL Kontakt's for years now. Never had an issue. I don't use (any) portables because I have had issues in the past with them just stopping working for no reason. The FULL versions will ensure that every lib will work - unless there is a problem with the library itself. The libraries themselves are never "cracked". The version of Kontakt is a cracked app that allows the use of just about any library. There will be scene released libraries that will not work (in normal fashion) out of the box due to the fact that they were originally not licensed properly or some other issue - i.e. missing NICNT files and/or kontakt wallpaper files. In these situations a good NICNT file builder is your friend. Wallpaper files are easily gotten from a huge thread on this form that was specially created for distro of kontakt wallpapers. Also keeping your nativeaccess.XML file updated and completely current is a must. I am speaking here in a windows context but tools do exist that will allow things to work similarly on the apple side was well. Keeping these few basic infos in mind, the world is your kontakt oyster so to speak.

Answering my own question, just in case anyone else has the same issue.

Right-click on this link and save it on your desktop: https://api.native-instruments.com/static/phints

Rename the file to NativeAccess.XML

Change permissions of /Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center so that you can write to the folder.

Move NativeAccess.XML to /Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Service Center.

Run Kontakt 8 stand alone.

Now Tools show up correctly. It fixes a lot of issues with libraries as well.

Very good reliability on M4 pro macOS 26.1 in Logic Pro 11.2.2 native --> Kontakt 8.7.2 relase from Team HCiSO / HoMeCracKeR
Big advantage: All additional Kontakt Ultlities are included (never needed all of them to get things running nice, but still...)
Got all my stuff together with add_library v4 & Kontakt Library Utility 2.4.0

 

?? Latest Kontakt release from HCiSO is 8.7.2
