Downald, I'm away from home this week, will be back on track in a week.
There is a neat fix for that, but I don't have the details with me, so I'll have to get back to you :)

Many thanks, NYCGRIFF. I like the three squares. I would suggest that these always be the same colour. So, for example, always red squares. This way, they will be more recognizable. And since the black background is very common, including in the Kontakt interface, it does not immediately draw attention. So perhaps, the grey background could be retained.

If you agree, then I would suggest that for collections the following can be used as the identifier (always at the left edge of the wallpaper):

    CollectionWallpaperIndicator.png

For series, the following can be used as the identifier (again, always at the left edge):

    SeriesWallpaperIndicator.png

Collections are different libraries by the same company or library developer (e.g. libraries by Soundiron, or libraries by Spitfire Audio.

Series are a set of volumes of related libraries (e.g. Soundiron Sonespheres Vol.1, Sonespheres Vol.2, Sonespheres Vol.3; or Spitfire Albion ONE, Albion Neo, Albion Solstice).

Of course, this is a guideline, not an imposition. Using this guide, this is how they would be presented:

    Audiofier - Veevum Series.png

Any other suggestions or observations are welcomed.

In the meantime, a big thanks to all who have contributed to this discussion, and notably to @NYCGRIFF and @pasi for their design responses!

Hi Downald: What I posted were merely 'conceptual' samples. Not meant to be construed as a universal design. Being that the wallpaper tabs are extremely limited in width, the left side for those dots, squares, triangles, etc. (whatever) is most certainly the ideal way to display. Visible enough to discern these "collections" or "series' types from regular wallpapers, but not so intrusive as to aesthetically the library graphics.

I agree with using a 'universal' grey background, as it would be easily distinguishable on wallpaper tabs regardless of the graphics. But, as for 'red 'squares' vs 'black dots' [series vs collections] it may be a bit much. (But, hey). That being said, I'm enjoying this discussion. After nine years of doing this stuff, It's always invigorating to hear from folks (like yourself) who suggest fresh perspectives. Personally? I'm having a blast experimenting with these ideas. So, fellow wallpaper designers, what say you? Always open to suggestions from any quarter. Peace.

Thanks again, NYCGRIFF, for your good comments. It's true, I like a bit of consistency and standardisation - I think it makes things neat.

I've said from the beginning, I'll leave it to you the designers - this was just a suggestion that resulted from difficulties I've observed over the past couple of years, since I started using Kontakt.

I'll adopt the idea for my own use as I find it helpful and efficient. I've found that I can easily add these identifiers to your wonderful creations even in Windows Paint - my only humble graphics application.

Perhaps the only guideline could be to leave a margin without text on the left side of the wallpaper. This way, users of wallpapers could add their own identifier, if they so wish. I'd suggest a minimum width of 26 pixels for the identifier. Looking at previous wallpaper postings, I note that the vast majority of them do not have any writing at that left edge, anyway. So effectively, nothing changes from before.

Having said this, I appreciate your engagement and your suggestions, and thank you again for helping me figure this out!

I think the whole idea has been great. I don't have hundreds of libraries but I use similar method to quickly identify and find my libraries. I agree with you about the 'red 'squares' vs 'black dots' and series vs collections. Why just use one method for both? But that's just me.

Downald: Let's try the 'blank' identifier and see what that looks like. Ultimately though, it all boils down to preference. Let's see...

Pasi: Same here. I'm liking this interplay a lot. I also like Downald's idea of simply using a 'blank' identifier, which works just as well as dots or squares. I'm going to run a few experiments to see what they look like.

    Thanks @pasi
    It's wonderful too.
I'm going to use the three solutions alternately.
One week the 1st, one week the 2nd etc
And I have to create a solution to record every treasure easily as I try for the banks.
