You can add portable versions side by side of your current K6 without any issues, no need to delete your current Kontakt !

 

Can confirm with Cubase 13 Pro DAW older projects with Kontakt 7 (Bobdule/Portable) now open with the later Kontakt 8 (Portable) but not sure about other DAWs. I've also uninstalled Kontakt 5 & 6 Portable but not opened any ancient projects yet to test if those now open in K8 but hoping they do.

thank you so much for the info, as soon as I can I will unistall K7 portable and install the K8 portable and see what happens, I use Cubase so I am pretty confident it should be the same. Thanks again.

Unistalling the portable version: how did you do it? Just manually deleted the folders not needed? I also assume we can leave the folder with the libraries list data...am I right?

 

You're welcome... Well we may possibly do it different but I normally copy the Portable to my D: Drive and the run the installer from there to install the .vst3 onto C: Drive (Default). If a new later version comes out then I uninstall in Windows and then delete Kontakt Portable 7 Folder or leave it there and copy K8 Portable to my D: Drive and install the later .vst3 on C: Drive then do a Library Manager Scan and Save

 

Basically when you are dirty you smell

keep in mind that when you delete portable folder you can leave there the folder in which there are the libraries archive file, so you can avoid scanning every time if dont need

 

Is it possible to run Bobdule's Kontakt together with the portable version?
