First of all, Happy Holidays to everyone!

I'm having an issue with Kontakt 7.7.3 (bobdule release), can't run either Standalone or VST3. Error I'm getting:

"The procedure entry point SetThreadDescription could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 7\Kontakt 7.exe"

Only one OK button to close the dialog window, and that's it.

VST3 disappeared from my Live Plug Ins too.

What i have done so far:

1) Uninstall everything Kontakt 7 related and install this new release.
2) Uninstall this release, and install the previous one, that was working wonderful as all other bobdule releases, and then >> install this one.
3) Uninstall all again, and go back to the full Kontakt 7.0 instalation, and then install this one.

None of it worked, i got the same dialog error.

Could it be this version doesn't support Win 10 (Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB) ? What am i doing wrong?

 

Theres a patcher to be run that might be getting deleted by your PCs Defender. Kontakt 7 Next Patcher is it's name and should be in the bd release.

 

thanks for the quick reply, but unfortunately that's not the problem. I have the Patcher, i've always disable antivirus when unzipping anything related with these kind of things.

I have another problem.
After installing Kontakt 7 it takes 24 hours to lunch Kontakt first time.

I was watching Task Manager and for first couple of minutes, the memory that Kontakt is using, was increasing slowly for 0 to about 1073 MB.

The it stayed at this value for next 3 hours, then dropped to 6 MB. And it stayed at this value for next 21 hours, then started increasing till about 1073 MB.
So, after 24 Kontakt was lunched. I want to say that it wasn't the case that Kontakt was not responding, frozen, or anything like that. I see that it uses CPU, Disk.

This happens for all versions of Kontakt 7. For Kontakt 6, no problem, it takes about 3-4 minutes. The problem is I cannot be sure when exactly it happens. It looks like it happens when upgrading the Kontakt, or upgrading Windows build, cleaning Registry, or adding library.

Lunching Kontakt next time it takes ąbout 3-4 minutes. Looks that Kontakt has problem when searching for all libraries from registry. I have over 4000 libraries.

the scan in 7 parse PAResources and previews samples more to build the NKS library database.
it take more time than 6, parsing only the library location for the rack view.
if it take1 or 2mn for a library, 4000x Xpresets will take a very long time.

you can watch the read/drive activity in resources monitor. also from the preset counter.
you can also rename the vst3 to force live to show it in the plugins list

Thank you for you answer!. I downloaded this file (VC_redist.x64.exe) to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.38.33130 and then I run it, I got message to "Repair / Uninstall / Close", because I installed this file in the past. Should I "Repair" or "Install" and then run setup again?

 

Well, i've downloaded it too, but my problem persists. Is this release compatible with my Windows version? (btw, with this same OS (Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB), i was using your version 7.1.8 without any problems).

 

entry point error, missing VC 140.dll, etc come's from this not installed last visual studio componant.

you can also try to uninstall, reinstall every C++ version from the last microsoft build.
i have everything NI working on a win10 from these c++ redistribuables.



on a fresh machine
only Kontakt give the alert until you install the last Visual studio. their installer may be faulty or install an obsolete version.
the kontakt setup only is not enought.

the patcher revision was about AAX missing modifs (showing activate on libraries), i also added run as admin by default in the settings

 

thanks Bob, i will try uninstalling every C++ and start from scratch, cos i did install the latest update with the link you provide here, but that didn't solve it, maybe is missing something else, or they overlapped at some point.

These you sent in the screenshot are the ones needed? or are more? Thanks again, Bob!

 

I just checked, this is what i have currently installed on my PC



Maybe some of those are unnecessary and are creating problems for current software, but one question? if i uninstall all of those, could some other software stop working cos they need that old version? of having the latest cover them all?

 

the microsoft listed selection is the only one usefull in win10.
you can allways install over a not supported version if something(very old) don't launch.

make a restore point if not sure.

I reinstalled all C++, but problem still exists. Kontakt 7 is loading 24 hours. After that Kontakt 7 is loading 3-4 mintes. That could be for many days, loading very fast, and then again loading takes 24 hours. It' very hard find when this is happening. I thing I would have to switch to Kontakt 6 or Kontakt 7 older builds.

 

i had a similar issue with another release so I uninstalled cleared the reg and then reinstalled 7.7.3 bobdule and all is working fine and fast im on win 10 .might give that a try
