Maybe someone could help me with this.
I finally decided to try this one, I'm particularly interested in this version to load old and / or self made libraries.

But when loading Kontakt into Reaper, I receive this message:

this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Then, Reaper crashes..

System Win 10
Daw Reaper 6.x
Loading without multi out.

This means a C++ exception occurred and wasn't caught by the culprit module. REAPER itself doesn't use them I'm pretty sure, so it's probably a plugin. Do you have REAPER configured to load the previous project at startup? Try holding Ctrl+Shift down when starting REAPER to load a blank project.

The error message came from the runtime. The message would say "This program can't start because <some .dll> is missing from computer." if it was not found.

Wrong. If a plugin runs through reaper_host it means it was bridged. Don't run plugins bridged unless they don't work any other way.

 

it use old dll from 2018. msvcp140.dll was updated in windows (system 32)
you can still replace the old by the new version.

all can be updated, api dll come's from visual studio.

 

Who use the old dll? Kontakt or Reaper?

Reaper is working perfectly. It crashes only if I try to load this Kontakt version.

 

Better install the latest R2R version of Kontakt.

Kontakt portable use old dll's

a have a more recent dll kit if you need
api come's from visual studio ( the 2020 where downloaded from internet, maybe newer are used but it need to install visual studio)
the others come's from the system they are updated by windows update.

 

As I said, I want to be able to use, old and home made libraries. As far as I know R2R version is like the commercial one, it does not allow this.

 

That's probably the solution, I'll try it when I get home.

Yes, I already have this one, but if I use it, I wouldn't be able to use new libraries.
While Danilov portable version is able to load both old and new libraries.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but R2R 5.2.1 version cannot be installed together with 6.xx version.

 

These api-ms-win-*.dll files are called APISet stubs. You can extract them yourself from the latest .NET runtime installer (6.0.4 at this time). Verify that the DLLs are of version 10.0.222000.194 once you extract them. I can also zip and send them to you if you need

How do you extract the dll from these?

You need Universal Extractor 2. It is a WiX installer not an archive hence Winrar cannot do it. After you unpack it you will see .exe files, I don't exactly remember which one its like ~80MB, which has the dlls you need. I will send you the files tommorow.

I've try replacing each dll that existed in the Kontakt folder with one of your pack, but I received this message again:

I really dont understand why there would be a problem with my windows, it's a normal win 10 version ..

not good the files have to be added to your win system.
You can use Tools like

for updating/repairing those components.. maybe you want to have a look there.
The .dlls in portable folder should not be touched.. you have to reinstall/replace with the old dll´s


Also.. may sound strange but it also could be some trash inside the reaper installation regarding to older Kontakt installation (non portable) if nothing from above helps.. last shot could be a reinstall of reaper..

@n12n0 When loading DLLs on Windows, an app always searches the directory it is in first to load the required DLLs and loads them from there itself if it finds them. So updating the runtimes will not make Kontakt use the updated DLLs.

 

I was absolutely sure of the contrary ...

Ahh , so that's what I thought until n12n0's comment, as I already made work old programs before, adding the right dll in their folders.

 

Well installing/repairing 2018 c++ runtimes with upper tool to check would be faster than go in deeper dicussion here i guess It can´t hurt..

and if it´s like demberto said and no other components other than that ones in the portable folders are needed to run.. logically... it only can be @ reaper side then.. (if you already redownloaded/reinstalled kontakt before).so a clean reinstall of reaper, if c++ installation does not help ,would be the 2nd best bet then afterwards..

Also, if an application was compiled to run with a specific version of a DLL it can too cause incompatibility. Only Kontakt Portable dev knows what he did.
