I had KU9 working fine on an old PC but bought a new one before Christmas. Instead of just re-installing it, I tried to get all the new updates for Battery, Kontakt etc and ran into trouble with the install. I wiped it clean and was so jumbled up with what was an update etc, I lost my calm and deleted the whole thing like an idiot LOL. Now, what I want to know before I go through the hassle of downloading all the files again is, can I just install the same plugins as I did before Christmas without having to update things like Kontakt, Razor, Reaktor etc?. There's just way too much faffing about trying to patch the new updates that I'd rather just have the same setup as I did before, is that possible or will I run into problems by not updating?

 

Just for clarity, I had a load of updates in the original files but I tried to update to ones that were even more recent but you had to do a lot of workarounds, that's where I went wrong, I'd be happy enough just sticking to the older versions if that was possible.

 

I would use uninstaller then just clean it out completely with something like CCleaner and install only what you need.
Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center and remove the .xml of any program giving you issues and remnants of old installs.
Also delete the specific program's registry keys from these hives:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\NATIVE INSTRUMENTS\...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NATIVE INSTRUMENTS\...

How did you install K9 in the first place? With individual program installs or the actual Komplete 9 installer?

Older versions shouldn't give you problems unless you're trying to use them with Komplete Kontrol or Maschine hardware and even then the worst that can happen is the presets don't load or they don't show up in the browser.

If you can find the R2R versions of the programs use the keygen in the Reaktor 6.1.0 release to activate every single Reaktor instrument. The keygen included with Replika XT can activate every single NI plugin.

I installed everything via the Komplete 9 installer, I may install things individually this time, I won't need things like Abbey Road drums and a few other things.

I will try and get the Reaktor update you mentioned. Sorry to be a dunce but what is Replika XT and what do you mean exactly by activate every single plugin?

Also, is it worth me trying to get the latest updates for everything? I found it a nightmare to get decent links for most and some I couldn't find at all. One update I read for Reaktor was had a ton of messing about to install. I'm semi confident about installing most things but too much headwork and I crumble lol.

Also,I noticed some exe files within the "sub installer" folder within the download have the same programs as some of the R2R files above, so do I install them as normal then update them with the R2R files?

Do you think it is better to install everything using the "Komplete 9 Ultimate Setup PC.exe" or pick what I want...that sounds better but I don't wanna leave anything out that I might need later. I guess I should research every component and decide if I want it or not, I'm taking it there's nothing in them folders that affect performance right?

There's a keygen inside the R2R folder included with Replika XT that will activate everything above by R2R. The Finger R2 by ASSiGN just needs to be installed. The keygen included with Reaktor will activate everything for Reaktor. The only thing that won't be is Guitar Rig and Kontakt.
Check your PM.

Yeah. the only reason I pointed you towards Replika XT is it contains the most current keygen for NI plugins and can activate more than just Replika XT. Same for Reaktor 6.1.0.

Leave the .pkg alone. Only use the Installers. They should have the NI logo.

I would just install things one by one and spend some time with the program. I guarantee you'll get a better feel for whether you need it or not and how to use it than mass installing everything then weeding through stuff randomly later.

If you use Maschine or a Komplete Kontrol keyboard you may need to update for optimized use of those devices. If not, check the change logs to see if there's really anything missing that you need. Minuscule updates are usually bug fixes but for power users they make all the difference. But yeah. Older versions work just fine.

Remember to open the standalone first before loading in a DAW. Especially the Reaktor ensembles like Rounds and Prism, etc.
Take your time brother. You'll appreciate and understand the plugins to a greater degree.

I had everything installed with the komplete 9 too, and had the same problems when trying to update any of the plugins. Now that I look back and if I had to do it again, I would just use the updated installers for the individual vst/vstis that I wanted. And install/copy the kontakt and battery/maschine libs I use from their stuff manually. I dont use the komplete or ni hardware either.

I know there's a lot I won't use (Guitar Rig, Abbey Road drums etc) I mainly want Kontakt, Battery, Massive, Razor and a couple of others. I'll spend tomorrow looking into all the different plugins and go from there. I'll be mainly using them with my MPD so I think I'll be happy enough with what we've covered. You've been a huge help. @Motion3000 Replika XT is a badassed creative delay effect. You should definitely check it out. Its a keeper
