Yeah the issue is 5 versions later ES2 STILL looks like that (i.e. awful). One of the worst synth GUIs ever IMO.

I love the GUI of Logic 5. And for me is one of the coolest GUIs in DAWs :(
    Maybe because I love 90s.

    I love EMU GUI too.

    Oh man, PatchMix!

I've still got my 1212m lying about somewhere, a fantastic little card that one.

Hmm... I wonder if I could dumpster dive an ATX case somewhere, as I still got guts of one of my old computers, and set it up...

That's the main reason I purchased a mac. Logic plugins are really good, instruments and effects.

    Hey @Roject
I still have the official physical, ring-bound manual for either Logic Platinum 4 or 5. With my ES key sticker on the inside!
The manual is about 5" thick! haha. But then it is a small, almost square publication.
I still have my three G3 iMac models with maxed out 1or so GB running Logic 4 updated, with all Waves plugins cracked for that version and OS!
And some greeeat old 3rd party plugins too! haha
Oh yeah, and an old iBook for my old stage set-up, running all the same stuff!
    Good times.

Yet still one of the fattest synths, and easy to create great sounds with.
It's the unsung hero of the last 20 years. Used by many people in many known tracks.

Everything from 90s is so sexy! [IMG]

Fuck man, takes me back. I lost that manual many a moons ago. I guess shortly around when Apple bought eMagic, and I grudgingly stopped using Logic since no updates were forthcoming. I can't remember what minor issue I had on Windows, but no fix so eventually had to move on.

But that manual... I wish software these days had manuals that good (doesn't have to be physical, but that extensive), that was Documentation with a capital D! It had some interesting things buried in it, like how to construct a M/S decoding matrix using the provided plugins and how to record mid-side things (like what kind of mics do you need). And this tidbit is burned into my brain (though I don't remember the exact wording), in one of the reverb fx descriptions it said to try compressing reverb, "a technique used by German audio engineers to achieve a more focused reverb".

Fantastic synth for sure. Maybe my memory is shot, but around that time not too many soft synths had that good mod matrix, and as easy to operate.

There are gems in there that didn't exist in any of the online literature, and ways that are still doable in current Logic but not known by many because it's not in the current online manual!
But matey with his How To books is pretty good, having been a longterm user.
Yeah it got a bit buggy, Logic Platinum 5 on Windows. It seemed it was just to seal the deal/send the message!
    I love Emagic still!
But I still get scared in the Environment window...:woot:
"I'm a musician, not a quantum physicist Jim!"
Made some amazingly useful things in it over the years though.
MIDI switchers, loop based muti-timbral live recording and instant playback. Think Ableton Live clips.
    Programmers for external synths.

The ES2 is amazing for making basses.

You guys talking about one of those manual or different one?
Is this manual is included on this list?

No that's not either of mine.
As I said, it was physical only. It's huge.
I don't believe anyone has ever scanned it all successfully.
And as I said, Emagic did not provide it online. This was years ago, remember!

@Roject ! Do a Search in the Reverb or Compressor .pdfs for this quote! :

I don't think that's word accurate, but "german audio engineers" or "german engineers" would probably find it.

Aww! I had one! I loved it! And my first one was the 0202 ! I still have that one and it still works on modern OSs.
Awesome! Now I'm a bit jealous!
Maybe I should search out the other old things I didn't have, and install them on the old iBook that's on OS9 !

Even R2R few months ago made proper cracked version of Emulator X3 because previous one used internet connection to activation on some antique server.

    And it still rocks! :metal::phunk:

    Emulator X3
Software Sampler is the culmination of over 30 years of sampler development that offers the sound quality, synthesis and filters of E-MU's hardware samplers and introduces a host of new tools that includes SynthSwipe automated hardware sampling, TwistaLoop non-destructive audio manipulator, Morph Filter Designer to create custom filters, Multi-Function Generator for advanced LFO/envelope/arpeggiator programming, advanced Transform Multiply convolution DSP tool, real-time control of multiple loop points, REX2 and MP3 import, and much more.

Emulator X3 still offers E-MU's 24-bit/192kHz sound engine and patented pitch interpolation, and can be run either standalone (64 MIDI channels) or as a VST instrument (16 MIDI channels per instantiation).

    Features
Automated sampling, pitch detection and preset creation with integrated waveform editor.
Powerful synthesis architecture with over 50 Z-Plane filters and 100 tempo-based parameters per preset.
Standalone (64 MIDI channels) or VSTi operation (16 MIDI channels per instantiation).
Sound Engine supports RAM and streaming playback.
    Integrated effects processors.
    2in/2 out USB MIDI interface.
