ok so i went to the update installer "Spectrasonics - Omnisphere Soundsource Library Update v2.6.1c"


grabbed the files and replaced it..

still no dice

 

did the deep codesign.. and also, still not recognized as VST

 

i tried looking around but doesn't look like there are other installers that would make a difference

 

currently i am at 2.6.2c, and there is no problem there. if you updated to 2.6.3, you need the zmap/index files from that update!

 

get abl live 10.1.2 if you must use vst, otherwise, just use au!

 

ok, so if i rerun the installer for update 2.6.2c, will it overwrite my 2.6.3 ?

and also, confirming that the latest soundsource is 2.6.1c, there is no higher, and that it is working for you WITH 2.6.2c ?

ok, no problem, i just learned that there is no difference so no problem there.

 

as i stated above, don't re-run the installer. follow the folder structure, and place the files correctly - do it manually!

 

the update installer only comes with .pkg, no data files

 

thats a software update for 262c, not a soundsource update, so there won't be a data or steam folder in there, to manually install with. the last soundsource i have working for 262c software, is 261c Soundsource update. like i said, i'm not on 263 yet, so if you've updated to 263 software, and a soundsource updater for 261c i mentioned doesn't work for you in 263, then go back to software 262c with soundsource 261c, as i mentioned above, it is working.

yes, it can be confusing, but there are three pieces of updates, per each of four spectrasonics instrument:

patch
soundsource
software

for the four spectrasonics instruments:

keyscape
omnisphere
stylus rmx
trillian

all your updates must be compatible, to keep your spectrasonics instrument working properly. install last soundsource update listed above, manually - and check it with your 263 software - before downgrading to 262 software, if necessary, for the 261 soundsource updater.... to work with it :0

there can be issues with stability, in difere DAW, different versions, etc etc.... so it's not all relative :/

so i understand what you are saying but here is the issues i am running into:

1. there is no soundsource update for 263, so i am forced to downgrade.

2. so i mentioned earlier, if i run the SOFTWARE update 262, NOT the soundsource (as there is no sound source for 262). i am currently already on the "matching" soundsource 261 which works with 262.

3. so as of now, as i understand it, my best plan is to downgrade to 262.... so if i run the 262 pkg, will it overwrite the 263 software and downgrade me to 262 ? (again, my sound source is already where it needs to be)

let me know if that makes sense.

guess so. if you still have problems, then your problem is somewhere else...

remember to re-apply full permissions in get info to each spectrasonics folder, after modifying it in anyway, as any new pieces you may have replaced or updated, may not have full permissions again, which can be an issue, if you don't make sure its full permissions as last step

 

ok i will give it a shot and update tomorrow. something tells me i will still have issues becasue as i was updating i remember trying at each step to see if it would run. there's also a chance i missed either permissions or something on those initial tries, but yeah... crossing fingers.

i am sad to report that i have hit a dead end. i have reinstalled, carefully gone over every step over and over.

no matter what, the same zmap error continues to persist. after extensive research it seems this error is experienced by many people from many versions dating back years and year even people who paid for it. the source of my original install came from the only working and trusted torrent available (the pirate) as that is the ONLY one that is even available anywhere for DL.

unless someone else has experienced this error and somehow discovered something new to attempt which resolves it, it seems that some of us are lucky with it and some are not. i have never not been able to complete an install that is said to work for some but there it is.

sadly, will probably never know why it doesn't work.

frustrated beyond words and still i thank you for all the help once again.
