The heavy bass sound at 4:04 sounds really good. What effects do I need to add to get that sound. I am using a real bass but would be interested to know if this is a vst . Is that a flanger effect ?

Sounds like a real bass to me too, maybe a Q-Tron or an auto-wah effect.

I was thinking J-Bass because a P-Bass wouldn't really cut through that much, but there a clip of a live performance of this song at Eurovision in 2016 and that one on stage looks like a Stingray to me and sounds spot on just without the filtered outro. Can't see the pedal board but maybe some overdrive and an envelope filter like BassBass + Phaser|Autowah?

You would probably be best served by a real bass players though.

Ask mercurysoto or olymoon, or they might stop by on their own.
I think they probably know their way around a bass better than most and would be more objective and precise.

Sounds like a bass guitar > flanger > envelope filter/auto-wah to me. I can hear some modulation going on within the wah effect.

 

This is the bass "synth" sound:

Bass guitar > Analog octaver > Chorus/flanger > Envelope filter

The analog octaver turns the bass wave into a square wave, that's how you get the robotic sound.
