just done up my p.c its now an asus p8z77-v pro motherboard an intel core i5 3750k ivy bridge with a corsair h80 cooler so ive cloked it at 4.5ghz and i have 10 gig of g-skills sniper ram and a 120 gig kingston hyperx ssd and ram cooler and was just wondering if i should get a gpu aswell as people have been telling me its not really needed.

 

If this PC will be only for DAW then you dont need it because in i5 processors is gpu Intel HD so you can save some extra money.

you will need extra gpu accelerator for fruity's dancing pokimon plugin :D or crossfire for multi-instancing it :X - honestly why you should get a second gpu ? it only would make sense for additional display setups or gaming. --- gpu makes noise, silent ones are expensive --- gpus still consume alot of powers!!! you need many cpus and gpus when no heating available at home and its cold outside, then it really makes sense!

 

haha ok thanks for the reply so that's a no on an gpu then. ill possibly take the money i did save for one and get another ssd drive perhaps or another hard drive.
and yea that daneing pokemon plugin is a bitch on graphical resources lol. (i actually do use fruity alongside ableton)

Joem, just one point and it isn't meant horribly, but do you know how to use a computer?

 

considering i bought and installed everything myself ( my job is p.c repair and tech help) and have used fruity for the best part of 6 or so years and have a degree in music tech and sound design then yea im fairly ok with a keyboard and mouse.

 

Yeah, I know but I meant if you had any direct links to the files or a tutorial or whatever (that is replace FL-Chan with one of those). Anyway, the help page helped with a term or two so I could search and I found these:
