Good question. I find it hard to keep pace. New large popular shares get saturated and you can get behind in seeding ratio very quickly. I go to rutracker first on new stuff. To me sites like this are ok, but require too much attention to keep pace.

 

Like i downloaded two sample packs and its already telling me i have a critically low ratio

 

I don't use private trackers much anymore, but I think it is still the same:
First, don't download anything from it at the beginning. You absolutely have to get the files elsewhere! (Unfortunately, downloading a sample pack from p.t. itself will mostly harm your ratio..)

- check the seed/leech ratio of the files - find one with lots of leechers
- large (10GB+), popular files, posted on the net in past ~24 hours
- seeding older packs works (sometimes), but only with XXL, "always popular" ones

That being said, you shouldn't/can't rely on one source only. IMO these trackers are only good to complete/repair your e.g. .rar file set, if it got dmcaed on some other site.. and fast smaller downloads
Advice - be cautious about "privacy"

 

@CharlieCrizzle - There are so many torrent sites and file sharing sites out there where you dont need to join, or seed that have all the things audio news has.

This is my first time on a private tracker. Someone offered me an invite so i took it. Ive never had a problem getting stuff with rutracker, audiotools, sister site, etc. I wasnt sure if there were exclusive things or what

used to be that only scene releases were allowed but i think that's passed now.. so any scene release from here (untampered) usually get them here first then wait till for it to show on AN.

 

It can be a chore to keep your ratio up. Look around and learn what's popular. Then try to be one of the first to download it and keep your PC on as much as you can.
