I was head knodding on that while doing some office work. Nice groove and plenty of sub which is important

 

I find it really repetitive with very little or NO melody. Maybe its just me.

 

I think it's supposed to be anti melody and fairly minimal on purpose

 

Music without melody is just noise.

 

I think it's a good foundation for something great. it's very minimalistic, so if that's what you were going for, it's right there. it's missing variation though....it gets too repetitive too quickly, and it doesn't keep the listener engaged for too long. throw some variations in, layer in some ear candy, stuff to keep the listener guessing to what's gonna happen next. that background lead can spread out into other melodies, let the bass drive the song, then bring it back with the lead. do some filter modulation. play with the vocals, chop them up, give them a out-of-world reverb tail with modulation.....go forth and make something great! ;)

 

To me the background lead sounds out of tune. I might be wrong, but there's something that doesn't feel pleasant to my ears and I believe it's only there when this sound is.

 

The melody is only one element in music, as rhythm, silence, etc... And music can do without these or not, and in some cases, It may contain only one of those. But maybe there is not a general rule for that.
