Just curious....why don't musicians spam their music in forums etc?

i mean some do but given the amount of musicians out there, i don't think this is the case

for example if you paste a link to your song in 50 forums lets say you might get 1000 listens i guess?

but i'm just curious whats ur view on this too

also, is it legal to spam music in forums etc?

    thanks

I think many do, but if you read forums rules it’s among the first ones. To not spam with advertisement. Now, if it’s a music forum you always have at least one such section to promote your music

I would say that 50 links randomly posted will give you zero listeners, or extremely few.

Because some people abide by the golden rule, and know that it's annoying to be on the receiving end of spam.

Plus, you'll only get an extremely small increase in listens by doing that. Generally, if you've got to spam it, no one will care about it. There's so much music out there (and free) that it's almost annoying to have so many options. There's no scarcity, and no reason to value it. It's just more noise in a sea of noise.

    1) Because it's embarrassing
    2) It annoys people
    3) The people who hear your music that way are unlikely to become engaged listeners/fans, so it's not even an effective strategy anyway. It's better to target a niche audience and build a relationship with those select few people one-by-one, rather than cast a wide net with low effort posts to people who may or may not even have the right taste

    Spam music on music forums???

Musicians doesn't care about other musicians music. And if a musician listens to your music, it's only so you'll listen to his music.

I only added links to my own music for the curious who might wonder about just how bad my music is and more importantly to determine that their own music is way better. It's a public service, my gift to the community. To my knowledge 99% of people here haven't listened to it and never will. Assuming there are 100 active members here I represent the 1%.

I rarely listen to anybody else's music, commercial or otherwise these days. I don't even listen to my favourite music from the past much anymore. Or make music, though I'm hoping to get into it again. Who knows? Who cares?

Because 1000 listens is worth quite literally a fraction of a cent. Nobody makes money on listens, be it Spotify or whatever elase. The money is made on festivals, live shows, merch and so on. Even with the highest paying streaming sites that advertise respecting artists, you're lucky to make $10 a month from listens, and that's the point where most musicians realize it's better paying to work at a gas station or literally wherever else instead.

Heck, it's better (and way better paying) to spend the 1 hour it'd take you to spam forums, playing at a restaurant or a pub.

it's part of a musician trade to be good at hiding their music, totally believing if it's good enough someone will find them somehow. it's basically the same thinking of expecting your crush to ask you out first totally aware they aren't even know you exist. sound impossible, but it works sometimes, if it didn't maybe it never deserved it at the first place. the goal is never about people listen to the music, it's about them re-listen to it, there's a difference there. cool factor is everything, nobody wants to listen to your music if you're lame. you share, but still being mysterious at the same time, it's a push and pull game, it's tricky. or just go out get a gig, play a show, that's a better way.

Because spam is annoying, disrespectful, and in some communities, will get you outright banned.
Also, many lack the financials, manpower, and time to do so. Anyhoo, don't be that person.
    Hope this helps!

Just a query... I have two links to my music which I see at the bottom of every message I post here, but the links aren't visible to me when I'm not logged in - are they visible to you?

Thanks! It really wasn't a marketing move, I'm no longer active in the music industry and I just used to gig when I was. Long time gone.

    Nowdays there are bots.
And the sp called "Music" just like "Movies" have bots to boost the viewcount and reviews.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) can and will be used for these purpose to manufecture concent.

For example... Scroll down the main page from audiosex.pro. Look how many users there are, and look how many bots.
