Just achieved a beast overclocked system and well chuffed with it!

A 4.6GHz Core i7 4960X Extreme Edition 6 physical, 12 hyper threaded CPU, 64GB RAM and a GTX 970 overclocked beyond a standard GTX 980 All rock solid stable with 24 degree idle CPU temp and 30 degree idle GPU temp, pushing up to 50 degrees and 70 degrees respectively when stress tested, so well within safe limits. My RAM is clocked at 1600MHz, above which gives me no real benefit as faster RAMs tend to not be utilised by CPUs much, especially in the 2011 X79 with DDR3 form factor. The RAM is running with fairly decent CL9 timings too.

I actually got to a stable 4.7GHz too, but that required me to bump up the CPU voltage from 1.3v to 1.45v, resulting in a lot of added heat and meant under load the CPU was hitting 65 to 75, which is a bit excessive for my liking for the sake of an extra 0.1GHz. If I installed a full water cooling setup, I could probably push to 1.55/1.6v and probably achieve a stable 4.8GHz, but that would be truly extreme for the sake of an extra 0.2GHz to what I have now!
