At the moment of the post I was trying especifically with RapidGator & Katfile. Looks like both are working fine now.

Please can somebody tell me if JD is safe to use?
Kaspersky flags it at virus\adaware etc.
I mean I will rather run Jdownloader than cracked version of IDM.
I have used JD more than a decade, it is for me best tool for YouTube and that is the main use but I am worried about system compromising?
Have you some experience? Since I am on fresh system I have to run no AV on it becuase Kaspersky really gives me headache, just another day accidently flagged Native Instruments KG, and by accident used advanced disinfection and have screwed my system so bad , performance wise etc. I love Kaspersky and trust them, but I hate the fact they started to flag Team R2R keygens as a virus. I know it is a false positive, but it is
annoying...

 

It's okay for a Virus Software to mark Keygens as a Virus or Trojan, because its a Cracking Tool and non Warez users don*t want that. But Kaspersky is annoying Windows Defender doesn't flag R2R Keygens. Same goes for JD2 never got a flag here its defitnitly Kaspersky. Have you downloaded from Developers Side or from another Page?

 

Unfortunately MS smartscreen, windows, and most antivirus /antimalware packages these days label P2P / torrent applications as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). This is due to a few bad apples (bittorrent, limewire, etc.) that are currently or have sometime in the past bundled viruses and/or malware within the software package itself or are included as extras in the application installer. You must also take into consideration waves of eager noobs downloading virus laden packages and then blaming microsoft and security software vendors when their machines go south, many going as far as threatening or actually filing frivolous lawsuits against the publishers which costs them time & money to defend against.

And besides, hogging large amounts of system resources for our own use can have an equally negative effect on the ever increasing amount of keyloggers, spyware, and other telemetry systems encoded within every product currently produced by the big 3 (Google, Apple, Microsoft) and those looking to emulate their success at raking in $$ off the backs of their loyal customers. The result of this data 'gold-rush' is software publishers are no longer concerned with producing bulletproof, quality products that securely protect customer data, but instead continually break and weaken their products with future mandatory 'security updates' or patches that will also reverse any attempt(s) made to secure these products by the end users.

All that said, JDownloader 2 with latest updates working as good as ever on my ancient workhorse Core 2 Duo / 4GB RAM / Windows 10 Pro 22H2 which I upgraded last week without issue to a Core i5-8400 / 12GB RAM / Windows 10 Pro 22H2. As anyone familiar with JD2 knows there are a shit-ton of options that allow you to squeeze every last bit of performance out of your particular hardware, but only if you are willing to take the time and effort to fine tune the JDownloader 2 package to your particular use case.

 

I always try to be as legit as possible which means only from developers source. It is not flagging as a virus but as some kind of malicious file\potentially unwanted etc, but KIS not let it in.
Some time was just fine with it, like with PowerISO , just deletes installation pages from additional content and run normal installer. Now something has been changed and they can not remove those "pages" from installation, then they just delete it... FFS , I am downloading just from trusted sites, trusted releasers, trusted groups (ONLY R2R-RET-AiR) and trusted users from sister site, and Russian torrent site...
So I am fine, no watching p0rns on working PC so internet is there just for working purposes at small rate.

But what I am asking, if JD is safe to run on PC nowadays, in terms of some additional security, anyways I will not install additional software they offer, but is JD code safe. Even though they are certified with Microsoft, so that is secure, but KIS is killing me... I can disable it during the installation, but my doubts still live in me :D

 

Well, I have been clearly misunderstood, what I have meant is "a recent experience" nothing more. But now fine I've got it again an give it a new chance.
