Woaw, I came to check news on this expected plugin, and damn, all I found basically was Trash...

You guys are getting old, willing to have controls and geeky parameters under your fingers...
Today computer music opened on a wider public and the product design 101 aims simplicity and sleek UI interfaces... it's not longer the preserve of geeky sound tweakers and designers...

I mean... Dirk Ulrich (brainworx/PA founder) called it quits after just 9 months under NI.
Wouldn't be surprised if the senior Izotope guys want out too, or maybe they're already out and this is the best they can do without the original team.

 

Since even the lite version 3 uses a lot more CPU than Trash 2, they probably had to choose between 2 shitstorms; a real updated Trash 3 with nothing removed, where only people with powerful machines could use, or a downgraded version many could use but is still a CPU-thief compared to the older & supreme version. In both cases there would be unhappy customers, so what's the point? Did they even think of hiring more competent people for the job? Taking their time & giving all the attention to details to release a masterful piece of art, while maybe also keeping the 'advanced' parameters under a tab, if the general UI had to be simplified for the new generation? This can now be seen also in many walks of life. It's not NI who's the evil giant buying other companies. Follow the money, and you'll find equity firms buying industries up everywhere. Changes are often made by public pressure, so Trash 3 might still get updated over time, but luckily we still have Trash 2.

No, the reason for the high CPU load is the 4 IR loaders per frequency band. So 12 IRs when you use the plugin with 3 bands. That's probably why they could no longer afford oversampling. This thing is aliasing like crap!

 

So it was like Native Instrument was sponsor on Metapop but when they drop sponsorship Metapop to avoid go bankrupt closed site?
I thought Native Instrument was a sponsor and in 2023 bought rights to them and closed the site.

 

I guess that's why they didn't name it Trash 3, so we wouldn't compare it to trash 2's feature set?
Now when they release the next version it'll be Trash 2 and I expect them to abandon it for years again.
We'll be left dreaming about what we wish Trash 3 could be forever in an endless cycle

 

Maybe it was just: "ChatGPT, use the power of all the best AI tools available and write the code for a new Trash VST. We won't pay skilled people to do it. Time is money!" ChatGPT then surely enough provided what was asked.

 

Ill be honest, after more testing, the CPU hit is too much for me to use it in any of my standard projects.

Lets see if i can get a refund because it is basically unusable. It's not the minor cost, its the principal of it. Releasing something so unoptimized and stripped of functionality really bugs me now.

But on a positive note, its got me using 2 even more and trying new things with it.

 

Their iPad blurb only mentions Trash in Logic. I installed the free version and it does not show up in AUM or any other AUV3 host. I don't have Logic so I couldn't try that.

 

Try uninstall/reinstall. It works in all my hosts. Audiobus, too

It's trash. Literally...
