  2. I'm still excited as I use 2 all the time. And upgrade deal was very cheap (plus I only paid £10 for version 2) so pulled the trigger and installing now. lets see...

  4. Ok, couple of immediate observations:
    • Sluggish interface
    • Resource hog - some presets are about 4x - 8x Trash 2
These can both be fixed with updates i'm sure

  5. Ok, the presets in lite version aren't a very good selection. There's only a few and rather underwhelming.

In full version you get a ton of new presets and a few directories from 2. BUT the same preset's running in both VST's side to side are different, so this is not a faithful 1 to 1 upgrade and some really strong ones from 2 are not there sadly.

And you cant load your own 2 presets into 3. I tried.

    Initial sound observations:
    • These are tamer presets generally, with many giving the VST a fatter sound than original. Many more orientated to dirty thickening than crazy destroying.
    • It is harder to quickly blow out your ears in horrible ways which was 2's strength and danger. I feel they tried to make it safer to use but are burying its power.
    • Faster overall workflow, with easier access to the main parameter sections.
    • The distortion waveform manipulation seems fun but maybe more shallow, and quite a different workflow from the original. I'm already missing quick adjustments i would use all the time.
    • No favourites - weird omission in 2024
I dont know, clearly needs a lot more exploring because i suspect the destructive power is all still there. I like its sound but first impressions are mixed.
I'm most concerned about how much of a hog it is. A couple of presets using 100%+ CPU and most 3-4 times the original, which is crazy as this is powerful music orientated workstation PC. Until this is fixed I cant use multiples in a full project without freezing etc.

2 is going to stay around for a bit longer.

@Margaret @wildeightyeight Thank you for the reviews, it feels like iZotope stuff is always half baked. Getting Trash 2 from the sister site now and see if it as praiseworthy as people are telling here.

    Regular Price is $79
If you have Trash 2 you can upgrade it to Trash 3 for $29
(Go to loyalty offers instead of adding it to the basket then)

When I saw the teaser, my heart leapt for joy. Now disillusionment is setting in. Trash 3 is basically just a stripped-down version of Trash 2. A few more IR profiles have been added. But the EQ, the waveshape design, the delay and the compressor have been removed.
Yeah... No, thanks. I'll stick with Trash 2.

  9. I paid £40 for both versions combined. Once they optimise 3 properly, having both is an excellent value proposition and i could see me using them in different ways.

The teaser did seem more concerned with hiding what they'd done with the old GUI than with teasing the new GUI.

Hahha should probably stick with Trash 2, it was already perfect with its XPs and the GUI, why is an update even necessary?

WHat people want its the lite version, so you only get lite saturation/distortion. Kapp

no for real, i will just stick with Trash2, its still future prove on windows and with its 64bit VST2.

Also Izotope has this subscription thing going on, so you basically have to make sure you have new material worth subbing, i feel like this will lead to degradation of content/products as its all forced ...
I know we can also buy T3 separate, but i think it is connected with that thought.

That's not my point. Trash 2 is abandoned. I think what most people (including me) expected from Trash 3 is an evolution, not a regression.

Sure, the ability to load multiple IRs and crossfade between them is nice. And being able to use an internal env for waveshape morphing is also quite cool. But to do something similar to the latter in Trash 2, you could use an external modulator to modulate tension, smoothing and mix. It's not quite the same, but you get the point, I think.

    They have added:
    • A new GUI
    • Four WS/IR algos per XY-pad
    • Randomize button
    • auto gain

    They have taken away:

    • Dual waveshaping stage, with waveshaping nodes and filter (per stage and band)
    • Two 6-band filter stages with 23 filter types each and individual modulation section per filter band
    • LFOs
    • Multiband dynamics with upward/downward compressor, gate and sc-filter
    • Delay with 6 types and a filter section
    • 3 different output limiters/clippers
    • Freely configurable module sequence including parallel filters
    • I/O metering
    • Lots of options

If the full version of Trash 3 were just a Lite version to a fully loaded Trash 3, okay! But it isn't. What izotope has come up with is a joke. It's an interesting plugin, no question. But not a worthy successor to Trash 2. Trash 3 doesn't even play in the same league as Trash 2.

yes, fully agree, nothing new from Native instruments... i guess izotope was great with great people in the beggining.. now its "Trash" Xd

  17. yeah, I wouldn't pay full price for 3, and they clearly made the upgrade cheap because they knew 3 wasn't actually a true upgrade.

2 is so powerful, if id paid £40 for just 2 that's still excellent value, so i personally don't feel cheated having an additional version that could potentially improve. But I am a disappointed. Izotope have been giving away 2 for years now, so many people must have it, weird they didnt go big on 3 and take advantage of 2's incredible reputation. Instead they've done a mild 'remix' of the original as a quick cash grab.

Not only plugins. Games, movies are hated very much too.
Look at Marvel movies or Cyberpunk 2077 game.
People have bumped up requirements to the maximum level.
